Nil Recurring was a b-sides record, and almost literally was Fear of a Blank Planet 2
I guess for me the disappointment stems from the fact that Stupid Dream is my favourite PT and that the reworking of Don't Hate Me is pretty fucking lifeless.

Fair point but that was a PT album and this is a solo album so your standards should be lower. Anyway, did you like HCE? I did. It kinda had that stupid dream / lighbulb sun atmosphere I really dig

It's got a really nostalgic vibe and mixture of 80s-mid 2000s pop and combines it all perfectly while modernizing the sound with perfect production and mixing.

It was a mixed bag for me in that the second half (from Routine on, p much) was pretty damn solid to me, with Wilson showing exactly why his strong suit is in his pop arranging, while I couldn't say I had any use for the first few tracks. And it's those tracks that the new thing felt like more of. Though Vermillioncore is an alright track, the riff ain't too special but I like the way it develops, reminds me of early PT, kinda.
