Why is this so good /mu/?
Just listened to this for the first time last Sunday. I'm ashamed that I hadn't gotten to it earlier.

Overrated desu, but still top 10 hiphop albums all time. Definitely not the undisputed GOAT like people who haven't even listened to the whole thing claim. Lyricism is good, beats aren't great (not bad either though) but definitely make you feel like you're in NY and have character, and a lot of the hooks are horrible.

Explain why you find it good without using the word "flow" or referring to "lyrics"
>>61943299
Yeah you strike me as a person who appreciates hip hop made by a ghetto black man.
>>61943510
You strike me as a person who appreciates hip hop simply because it was made by a "ghetto black man."
Will swish top illmatic?
>Gay-Z
>Cockafella Records
damn...
Best psych album since the 60s

No anon, you're writing off flow and lyrics as not important in hip hop. That makes you someone who doesn't understand hip hop and is trying to be condescending about it.

>beats aren't great

>That makes you someone who doesn't understand hip hop
lol

>beats aren't great

Yeah it does. Flow and lyrics are almost all the value of hip hop.

Some people treat Hip Hop as music, you know?
>>61944804
It is music, it's a distinct type of music that is fundamentally different than most other popular forms.
>>61944933
It's still just music, it either sounds good or not
>>61944963
Yeah, and a huge factor in that distinction with hip hop is the flow and lyrical content.
