I don't see why people hate Boards of Canada's Campfire Headphase. It had classics like Dayvan Cowboy and Peacock Tail, and desu I found it better than Geogaddi.
It's the most accessible album by them and that triggers /mu/ into hating it

I dunno, I've seen many people on /mu/ compare Geogaddi with Campfire Headphase. But you're right they both are complete foils in terms of ambience.
It's nice downtempo music, but we didn't listen to MHTRTC and Geogaddi for "nice" music. We want that serene coarseness and coarse serenity of tracks like Pete Standing Alone, Dawn Chorus, Julie and Candy....
The second half is fairly lacking as well.

and even then, bad by BoC standards is still pretty good
songs like New Seeds, Reach for the Dead, Nothing is Real (a little throwback to earlier works IMO), and Come to Dust were all pretty decent.
