What's his best album
New Moon. posthumously released in 2007 with all the "unreleased" tracks he, for some reason, didn't put on any albums. my favorite tune from it is "placeholder," it kills me everytime
self titled followed by roman candle then either or rest are meh

desu he has an incredible discography

I like the S/T and Roman Candle the best desu
Either/Or is great too
I haven't really listened to the rest
the one that sounds like the beatles half-assed
none

you are fucking around if you dont think its figure 8
Roman Candle > self-titled > Either/Or > Figure 8 > XO > From A Basement > New Moon
self titled, then either/or, tie between roman candle and new moon
others are fantastic but all on the same level
XO
general /mu/ opinion is he's trash and mark linkous/sparklehorse is a better more unknown version than him
when in reality the only truth is that he's more unknown than ES
also desu fammo I like XO the best because I like the clash between his raw sound and nice production but he was pretty consistently good in his releases from roman candle to new moon mang

Easily his worst album. He was on so much smack at the time, there's a reason why that record feels so empty and phoned in.

>general /mu/ opinion is he's trash and mark linkous/sparklehorse is a better more unknown version than him
No, it isn't. This is your opinion. /mu/ likes Elliott Smith a lot.
probably either/or but they're all great
I think from a basement could have been amazing if he had been able to finish it
S/T = Either/Or > Roman Candle = New Moon > XO = From a Basement on the Hill > Figure 8.
But then again everyone seems to have different opinions, which basically means his stuff is great all around. He's really great at that type of comfy relatable sadness, along with others like Nick Drake, The Mountain Goats, Sparklehorse and such.
