kanye makes pretty good music I like it

Take away a star from the college dropout and add it to Yeezus and we f.a.m.
>>61896725
you should be executed publicly desu senpai
>>61896725
I'm glad you largely agree but that is basically the worst possible 1-star move you could ask for
Add a star to LR and I'll allow it.

>>61896804
Wait, I missed that Yeezus was a 3. Take one of its stars and put it on LR, then.
>>61896871
yeah Yeezus 2.5 LR 3.5 might be better
I really like some tracks on Yeezus though you know
>>61896955
To each their own there, I suppose. I felt it had 2 great tracks and nothing else really worth acknowledging but that's just my opinion.
>>61896812
honestly I liked Watch the Throne more
only great thing about MBDTF is Nicki's verse

I think MBDTF is a mess of an album but its charm kind of lies in that as it feels like a focused look into manic depression on the most histrionic of levels. It's tasteless and grandiose to the point of riding off the rails but I think it's the commitment to that vision that holds it together in some weird way.

College Droputout - 8/10
Late Registration - 9/10
Graduation 7/10
808s 6/10
MBDTF 9/10
Watch the Throne - 7/10 (idk I like it)
Yezzus - 7/10

I could get behind this if it weren't for the 2/5 on MBDTF.

that makes a lot of sense. I think I have a particularly low tolerance for the tasteless bits so I never really appreciate it as a polished tasteless package
>>61897248
seeing as all the other ratings are 3 or 4 its not hard to accept them I guess
>>61897119
this.
MBDTF is a case where the sum is more than the parts. While I do like a lot of the songs on it, it's the album as a whole that's in that high 3 to mid 4 star range.

I dig the fuck out of 808's cold atmosphere and stark minimalism.

This.
But I gotta say that the brutalism and experimentalism of YEEZUS makes it just as good as 808s.
CD 9/10
LR 9/10
Grad 8/10
808's 9.5/10
MBDTF 10/10

Yeezus simply didn't connect with me at all beyond a couple tracks. If MBDTF was Kanye teetering on the edge of madness then Yeezus was a full-on leap and I just wasn't there with him on that one. I like the attempt at off-the-cuff abrasion but I dunno, most of it just left me feeling cold.
Any thoughts on his early mixtapes Get Well Soon... / Behind the Beats / I'm Good... ?
I've definitely listened to all three but I don't want to relisten right now just to add them to RYM

I've probably listened to more Rap than most of you faggots. Fight Me
>>61899052
I think before you rate 808s you need to accept it's not a rap album
>>61899052
>I've probably listened to more Rap than most of you faggots.
tell me about the mixtapes (>>61897918) then
>>61899229
Can't. Haven't listened to them. I don't usually go into mixtapes unless...
1. I want to hear more from an artist but they only have a small studio discography.
2. The artist is well known but has yet to drop a studio album
3. There's a lot of praise for a particular mix tape
4. The mixtapes are better than the albums (Big Krit)
As for the green text. I've covered entire (studio/album) discographies from 50+ rappers. Yes I still listen to mix tapes and discover new artists through them just not as often and not Kanyes. You happy with that answer?
