Albums you gave a 10/10 after only one listen
giving albums a perfect score after one listen is a pretty retarded thing to do, but i gave this 5 stars after one listen many years ago and it's remained 5 stars ever since
I've never given higher than an 8/10 after one listen.
>>61881969
You're a retarded thing to do. Sometimes an album just clicks with you or is unlike anything else you've heard in the best of ways.
OP I agree on giving that one a 10/10, when I first heard it I was blown away. All of their stuff was truly great.
>>61881969
go back to your containment thread
All of them
Of course, I relisten to see if they hold up, but it's not often that I change a rating on second listen
>>61881939
my jaw dropped when I first heard this
>>61881939
I was actually wondering, all of you people who have rated hundreds of albums on rate your music, how many times do you usually listen to an album before rating it? So many of my favourite albums I disliked or didn't appreciate after many, many listens.
I was honestly blown the fuck away.
>>61881939
This album is shit tier desu
>>61884360
That's Jpop and it has a high score on sputnik music so fuck you.
>>61884819
2 if I know it's bad
3 if it's regular length and I like it
4 if I suspect it's a grower or if it's really long
liked it less on second listen, actually. but after subsequent plays it has gone back to a 10
>>61884840
holy shit are you me? I sure as hell didn't give it a 10/10 but this is the highest I've ever scored am album after one listen
>>61881939
this one made my mind go crazy, yet kept me entertained the whole time

Long Season
Age of Adz
>>61884908
and this
i don't like this album anymore though
infact i don't like any of the albums i initially rated as perfect anymore
there's always an implicit lack of replay value in any album that resonates so strongly after only one listen which is why any album that does that probably isn't nearly as good as you think it is
it's a ten to this day. It is however my second favorite album, but my favorite is almost /mu/core so I won't mention it
>>61886150
good taste
this
>>61884840
Same here
One of my favorite albums, So fucking good.
This, and Long Season. That one made me cry at the end, for some reason.
when III hit, i knew
>>61884980
Same now it's my favorite album of all time
>>61884759
Listening to Radio Amor right now. Oddly enough I decided to listen to his albums today. Any suggestions for similar music that I should listen to if I enjoy it?
>>61884819
I actually rate them immediately so that I remember to revisit them. I like to go through my ratings semi-regularly when I don't feel like listening to something new. That's where I decide to revisit an album if I'm feeling it. Good example would be Loveless, which I think is pretty typical for most people. Thought it was about a 3.5/5. Decided to revisit it since it's mentioned so often here. Listened to it for a full day at work (9-5) and it is now one of my seven 5 Star albums.

Any other artists besides Tim Hecker? Not very experienced in the genre.
>>61887222
if you haven't, check out Ben Frosts' By the Throat.
One of my favorite albums of all time, and Tim Hecker said it was his favorite album of 2009.
The rest of Ben Frost's stuff is great too
>>61886214
very powerful album
pic related, my 10/10
My initial thought is "no album gets 10/10" first listen.
But
>>61887141
is actually pretty close
>>61887141
This
but also this
This is so good.

>>61887141

>>61887141
I'd say Takk... and ( ) are just as good, actually. Ágætis byrjun is just more iconic for the band and genre in general.

>>61887091
honestly I is my favorite track by quite a wide margin
>>61889482
part I is amazing and it's perfect for establishing the atmosphere. I don't see at all why people don't often like it.
the climax of "Jigsaw" still gives me chills years later
opened my mind to an entire world of hardcore and metal i'd never thought to explore before it
>>61889465
um desu if u dont agree with this ur a pleb
>>61886136
that's why I rate albums a 5/5 after I've already spent a lot of time with it and know I've enjoyed it for a long time, as it proved to both be awesome on first listen and have replay value.
At the end of the day who gives a shit what anyone rates anything anyway lmao
>>61889986
sooooooooooooooooo
>>61889482
pleb
>>61889709
pleb
>>61889861

>>61887299
But don't some slip the cracks? I would rather have the most accurate ratings possible so I listen to an album at least 3 times but usually a lot more before I rate it. Even then I may still come back to change it but at least my first rating is accurate for that time.

>>61889999

>>61890176
6/10 all through 5 listenings
If an album can move me to tears in the first playthrough, it's a 10. It's not the most amazing piece of music ever but god damn is it beautiful.
>>61889434
Eh, the first track is annoying as sin after the initial narration. Rest of the album is great though.
The other albums are great too.
>>61881939
Weighing Souls With Sand is a 10/10, great taste OP
