>You don't have to go to college
What did they mean by this?
>>61879006
They meant that you don't have to go to college if you don't want to.
They were saying, as college students, that it actually isn't necessary to go to college even though it might have been in the 60s back when The Beach Boys wrote Be True to your School and tuition was much cheaper
Seriously, in 2016 college is just a sick joke.

it's been confirmed by them that it means pretty much absolutely nothing and everyone reads too much in to it

He means that we don't have to go to college to be successfully. Of course the man who really invented college didnt go to college because he did not need college to invent such, As days go by, College is going to be not just recommended but mandatory. Tell me about all the people who actually went to college for a certain carrer and didnt even major in it. Waste of money. Giving it to the white man which I dont understand because they have money machines so they could get any amount of money any time. Its not like gold where as though it could run out, Money is green paper that is truely the root to all evil. Its crazy that there isnt a place in the world that doesnt have money, or does but us americans dont know about it. Humans are dumb idolizing green paper. While they sit back and laugh at us admire the green. Its just paper that you let control ur life. Theres nothing we can do about it now, So we have to wait till Jesus comes and save his true followers. Poor world,,

>The short track "College" with its line "You don't have to go to college" has often been mistaken as a political statement.
College is fucking cool and lame at the same time.

They're saying you don't have to go to college, which is a social statement no matter what. It's a sentence that comforts everyone, the college kids who feel stressed or the neets whose friends are all in college.
I just think that it means you don't have to do all the optionals that most people do, and you'd be fine without them
They addressed this in an interview. They thought the track sounded too much like preppy beach boys style and wanted something to counter it, and they went on to say that they really meant nothing by it.
