ITT: Which currently living musician's death will have the biggest impact on you?
IGGY
POP
I don't want to think about it.
>>61864306
fuck it
i'll cry
Id fucking cry.
we had this thread 82 times in the past week.
This guy. Fuck, if he dies, I don't think I'd be able to handle it.
Waters and Gilmour
>>61864294
Leonard Cohen.
>>61864361
>if he dies
>>61864325
when he dies I die. I have to see him live before he dies
>>61864359
And I'll make an 83rd tonight, just to annoy you
>>61864306
he's still alive?
Tom Waits
>>61864418
DON'T USE FUCKING MEME MAGIC ANON. YOU KNOW IT'S REAL.
like at least half of my taste came from studying Dylan
david byrne
paul mccartney
bob dylan
brian wilson
neil young
moz
the boss
>>61864460
I think his point was that using "if" for someone that's over 70 is just silly. It's only a matter of time.
>>61864454
Yeah, that will be a hard one.
Tom Waits
Bob Dylan
Mark Oliver Everett
McCartney and Ringo
Springsteen
Brian Wilson too. Since he's largely responsible for Pet Sounds he could have spent the rest of his life recording his bowel movements and releasing that and it wouldn't undo the legacy.
;(
>>61864361
He's already dead to me. As is Paul McCartney.
Brian Wilson, Michael Gira and MC Ride will probably be the one that will get to me personally
there are more, but they're rather unknown so i'll doubt if i even knew when they died
>>61864361
Yeap.....Brian Wilson is a total genius.
>>61864517
>He's already dead to me.
What a terrible thing to say. He even released an album last year.
>>61864508
using "if" for someone that's under 10 or whatever would be just as silly, I hope you realize that.
>>61864536
Yeah, and it was complete shit.
>>61864565
So if he's not putting out anything SMiLE tier or whatever, he's worthless to you?
Thom Yorke
>>61864582
Not exactly, but No Pier Pressure was beyond terrible.
>>61864582
I would rather listen to Kidz Bop than No Pier Pressure.
Bryan Ferry.
Incredibly underrated these days.
>>61864582
He sounds like he has down syndrome on that shite album.
Jack Black
God I love AC/DC
Thom Yorke
>>61864652
I second that. Avonmore was tight af.
Pls no
;_;
>>61864692
Open up your skull, I'll be there.
>>61864614
>>61864637
>>61864673
So his life is meaningless now then, so he's already dead?
In my mind, the world will lose something great when he dies. He's so humble and sensitive, and even if the mind that birthed Pet Sounds isn't sharp enough to make music anywhere near that good again, I still love the man to death.
>>61864693
His voice is disappointingly weak these days, but he still has real stage presence.
They started playing "If There is Something" and the backing singers did all of the work and he just crooned. A shame, but that's age for you I suppose.
Another I forgot about is Bjork.
>>61864692
I will see you in the next life
>>61864714
Anon, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Brian Wilson is a genius, enough said. Even if he can't make music in the same capacity as he did when he was younger, he's still got more talent than most of /mu/.
Jerry Seinfeld

>Phil Collins
he's recording a new album, right?
oh boy
Ennio Morricone
Phil Collins
James Murphy
Kate Bush
I always used to say Bowie in these threads. It feels horrible not being able to include him.
They wouldnt hit me as hard as Bowie but still, and a few of them still are too young to die (i hope)
David Byrne
Brian Eno
Annie Clark
Michael Gira
Keiji Haino
Joanna Newsom
Jim O'Rourke
Andrew Savage
Micheal Gira
Neil Young
Iggy Pop
>>61864827
He'll be fine
The only one that will affect me more than David Bowie would be Peter Gabriel, since Genesis is what made me actually get into music
>>61864325
Oh god ;(
>>61864827
>65 years old
>Has a weak back
>Still playing drums in shows and studio albums
hell be fine
>>61864827
And a tour, allegedly. It will probably be 1000% more expensive than it should be, but I'm excited nonetheless. He hasn't created an original pop album for quite some time and pop music has changed so much since then.
I really liked his voice on Going Back though, for all the shit that album got. Then again I love motown too so I might be biased.
>>61864848

>>61864886
YOU KNOW THE MEME MAGIC IS REAL, STOP THAT
I had no idea his father lived until 2012, I assumed he died in the 90s or something. Woah
>>61864888
I want him to muster up all of his energy and yell TAKE A LOOK AT THESE HANDS or "GOD PULLED ME UP, UP, UP UP".
David Bowie
If someone old like Brian Wilson or similar dies I'll be like whatever.
I didn't care much about Bowie either. His death wasn't all that sad or anything. He already have us plenty of music and was way beyond his creative peak anyway.
It's a tragedy when someone young like DJ Rashad dies, the man could've given us so much more.
David Byrne, Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan... When's the last time they made a great record? Oh, that's right, some 30 years ago or so, so who cares.
>>61864878
Going Back is the cover album? I thought it was okay, though he didn't really add much to those songs to warrant the cover versions, but I didn't mind it much.
I wonder what he'll come up with now, considering that 80s-style pop music would sound terribly dated nowadays. I'd like him to do a prog pop album kinda like Duke, but his solo stuff is way different from Genesis, so I doubt that would happen.
>>61864393
yes
I don't really know.
Maybe Jello and Dot Wiggin.
eno
>>61865015
>Leonard Cohen
He has been consistently good throughout his life. Just because /mu/ only talks about the stuff he released in the 60's and early 70's doesn't mean the other stuff is bad.
>>61865019
The cover album, yeah. It was very much "Phil sings over the exact arrangements", but it's just a nice collection of classic hits.
That's what I mean, he carried his sound a long way, but not that he's been away for so long he can't get away with bringing it back. Perhaps he will have a Bowie-like creative resurgence and do something completely wild and new.
>>61864692
>Rest in Piece Tom York of The Radioheads, I loved "The Creep" <3

Popular Problems was pretty good.
>>61864604
The only one that would really rattle me. Him and Bowie were who I looked up to. Others who I recognize would certainly sadden me, but Brian Eno would make me really sad.
>>61865015
at least kanye and brian eno still make great music
I hope Morrissey dies this year
Joshua Homme :(
Górecki already died.
none, I am not personally involved with any musician, so i cant imagine any musicians death having an impact on me.
>>61865136
It's funny. I won't miss him but I'll miss his lyrics. He's one of the best lyricists of all time.
it's pretty cool to see how many people eno has made a mark on. one of the only musicians who is still cool & relevant after all these years.
>>61865136

>>61864516

Kate Bush and Björk, I'm probably going to die too
>>61865182
nice b8 m8
>>61865191
>>61865068
It would be funny if that turned out to be the case, considering critics were never too fond of Phil Collins, so his new album hypothetically being good enough to get praise from them would be the perfect closure to his career.
In all honesty, McCartney and Ringo will be very hard. The true end of an era.
>>61864325
yeah, let's hope G-EAZY has a few more years in him
>>61864557
Mark Hamill must be there for 8 & 9 at least. I think he'll be fine.

Meme magic isn't real, right?
None, because I'm not some massive autist who 'builds a relationship with an artist' through music like redditors and neo-/mu/tants do. If a musician I like dies, they die and that's that.
>hurr the edge
Is it so hard to understand that the death of people I never knew on a good basis don't really have an effect on me? I can't bring myself to be sad if I'm not actually crushed.
>>61868800
