Thread for those who've advanced past /mu/core, p4k BNM and the same old. For those who've...
a) been listening to music seriously for 5+ years
b) with musical training and regularly perform music
Don't be offended, this is not meant to be pretentious, its just some of us have moved past the general essentials, p4k BNM and the latest hype album and have more developed tastes. No /mu/core, BNM, Fantanocore or chart music allowed.
What music have you been enjoying lately?

Just leaving this classic here
Ok, for the last time I'll throw in NEOANDERTALS.
So far I've rarely - if ever - got a reply to this. It's experimental death metal (?) about neanderthals, with only bass, drums and vocals. The rythms are abstract, melody is replaced by percussive textures. On some level it's the core of what people find "brutal" in extreme metal, even though I'm not sure whether to call them metal at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZlM9jTbzQ4
I'm curious if some will actually reply and whether it'll be the usual "bleh it's disgusting noise" ranting or actual interest.
>>61848195
It's basically old (1981) Japanese coldwave. The entire EP is 12 minutes long
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5dREUeNwSg
>>61848091
don't do that

>>61848223
>EP is 12 minutes
I think you mean single, friendo
>>61848170
yeah it reminds me of the music you hear in old kung fu movies
probably cause that's what it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qgV8O5An20
>>61848003
for the next one i think it would be better to not sound so exclusive with the whole musical training aspect.
i think it should just be shortened to those who want to post stuff that doesnt get much attention on /mu/ (and the other places) and those who regularly immerse themselves in such music.
but. alas, i am not OP and maybe the pretentiousness has attracted the stragglers as well as the shitposters who ultimately keep bumping the thread
just a thought, though
>>61848264
yeah that's why i included the longer part from the first thread
i'm not the usual op either though

Nah, it's 4 songs. I'd call it a (very short) EP rather than a single.
The video states that it was released as a flexy disk.
Anyone have anything like this?

excellent stuff
check out the blog braingoreng too, they have mostly straight classical stuff (lots of Piphat and Gamelan) but also have a fair amount of "contemporary" (usually 60's through 80's) stuff as well
i'll put some of that up probably
there was also that cool Rough Guide To Psychedelic Cambodia release last year that was pretty groovy stuff

Even though it's really simple and straightforward music, I'll recommend Buckethead - Pike #220 - Mirror Realms
Less guitar wankery, more soothing acousic chords, slightly more interesting bass work. Simply beautiful music from an insane mind.

It's not uploaded on youtube, but Neoanderthals' third album, Australopithecus, is purely instrumental (meaning bass and drums, nothing else). It's a jam recorded in a garage back then, it's far more relaxed, funky, even otherworldly jazzy at times.

Good thread with real discussion, kinda, but I don't see what talking about less heard music has to do with musical training or performing regularly.
>>61849275
how does one even belk?
>>61848999
First time I heard it was on my iPod with the Al Anon EP right after. I was stoned, drunk as shit, and literally half a world away in a ratchet hostel at three in the morning. You can't imagine the size of my shit-eating grin. Perfect stuff.
>>61849159
Maybe you're right, whatever. I just like to challenge my mind, listening to new, explorative sounds, to experience atmospheres and emotions I rarely feel. Varied music as contained here shows me how diverse and alive the music scene is, you just have to dig deep enough.
That probably sounds pretentious as shit but it's just my honest opinion.
In case this isn't well known here: Bohren & Der Club of Gore
They play some sort of ambient jazz, mellow and sad, slow and embracing. You either get it or you don't, there's no exceptional (technical) musicianship, no elaborate layered compositions, but it might just grab you and pull you down for a comforting grief.

Fair enough. I see the point, but I just find it a kond of wanker thing to do to create a special thread for people who listen to 2deep5u music. I guess there's not really many places to go if that's what you're into, though.

I stumbled on this thread out of curiosity, but it's actually neat to have less shitposting, less of the same 'ol stuff and just more passionate music from a huge variety of genres. Yeah it's a bit edgy to have a separate thread for it, but it's actually working. Having a look on the past two threads the quality of the posts also dramatically increased and I've got hope that there will be more threads like this in the future.
Ebin meme shitposting in /mu/ context can be fun, but it's enlightening to have some threads who consistenly contain low levels of sarcasm and hate and actually on-topic posts.
Final post for today: Bethlehem - Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia
I honestly don't know how to categorize this. Metal/industrial/experimental. Not in-your-face, but the weirdness creeps up your legs over time.

>>61849765
Fair enough. I might be back here some day when I'm numb to normal music, but for now /mu/ seems to think my taste is pretty pleb, so we'll see. There definitely does seem to be less shitposting (excuse me).

Add some Devin Townsend, black metal in general and turn the melancholy up 200%. I love how this album basically lacks most features you'd want to have on a metal recording and instead does everything different.
