I don't know, is there a list of top albums that should be taken more seriously, other than your own list of favorites? Rolling Stone's list is basically just a list of the top selling albums from 1960-1978, with some Nirvana thrown in for conformity's sake. It seems RYM has a ranking curated by people who consider themselves buffs... none of these 7 albums make my personal top 100, but it seems like a reasonable summation of what people that have that put some thought into it think. I'd imagine if you polled people who don't self-identify as music nerds you get a list with Thriller, 1989, Best Of Celine Dion or something

It's not that any of the albums listed in op's picture or in the top 100 (for the most part) on rym are bad by any means, it's more of a very small and selective group of music voted on by a large amount of people who consider themselves to be music-heads. It still leaves out a large amount of classical, jazz, and other genres, simply because less people listen to them, therefore all time is just the last 30-50 years for a lot of people. It's the same with imbd, people go out of their way to rate movies and think they watch a lot of movies yet a lot of the actual best movies of all time are buried under lots of others. Less so on rym though.
