It's really a shame how overshadowed that album is by magnolia and didn't it rain. I was completely hooked in by it's sparse ambient atmospheres. It's fucking incredible.

I wouldn't disagree if you called these objective 10/10's.
Hot and Spicy personal opinion incoming
>>61824807
Yup. Hey is pretty great
Personally I find this the pinnacle of popular music because it solely focuses on what makes popular music good instead of the Beatles and Radioheads of the world who love focusing on having watered down art music elements. Would rather listen to art music for that stuff.
>>61824011
I've never listened to that full Pavement album but I know there's some great stuff on it. However I have listened to Slanted and Enchanted many times and I give it a 10/10
I prefer Josh Eppard to Chris Pennie.
>>61823631
Well, my favorite is So jealous
The Con and sainthood are great too, but i like this one more than those two.

Honestly, I liked this album alot the first time I heard it, but the third listen clicked on me harder than anything I've ever heard. I had an ugly cry listening to the title track. The album's concept and overall sound feels touchy to me.

My first ever encounter with goa trance - probably the reason why I love this album.
>>61818029
Great album, love that this guy is so popular. Not a 10/10 though. Papaoutai is a really basic song, only the lyrics are pretty good. Compared to other things on the Dutch radio however, 10/10
>>61841449
Fucking love going places. You have anything comparable for me?
>>61842129
Ah. This is always the difficult part. I don't know much noise that /is/ a lot of comparable.
Probably their other releases, obviously. Not really comparable sonically, but p. much anything by Tim Hecker. Both have a lot of attention to detail, lots of background noise/instrumentation, and slow building/swelling.
Time Machines by Coil is amazing, as far as Drone Goes.
Pale Star by Barn Owl is kind of rhythmic/droney guitar, but much more straight forward than Going Places.
Alien Observer by Grouper.
Again, all of the above are fairly different, but have kind of the same vibe, for lack of a better term.
hbu anon? Recs? I'm into white/soft noise, but much of it is too droney or one dimensional for me.
>>61842248
Well considering Hecker is my favorite artist, it makes sense why i like this album so much haha. It sucks that so little in this genre really 'clicks' with me. This album, and Hecker's discography, are pretty much the only albums i absolutely love, the rest i've found is pretty good, but that's it. I'll try Time Machines.
>>61842360
The genre being noise? Yeah, I agree. Too much of it geared towards HNW stuff, imo.
Maybe try some of Prurient's earlier stuff too, if you don't mind droney minimalism, Annihationalist is good.
Time Machines is also super minimal, just btw. No where near as busy as Hecker or Going Places by YS.
>>61811301
Also the best album by the lord of bats

>>61813965
not OP, but i was pretty pissed about his death
i started listening to him in december last year, and now i can't even talk to anyone about him or else i'll be the fag in your posts
>inb4 implying you're not a fag already
Yep.
Can't wait to get called entry level just because i love and an entry level album.
>>61843894
agreed this album is great, despite it being old mucore all of the songs have something
>>61843923
It simple but intriguing, every track feels different and even if there is a reprise, that reprise feels something really different, I really love that album and even though I listened it 3 years ago, I like it in the same way as 3 years ago.
>>61811580
got done with it just a few hours ago
The sound lives up to the name of the album. I felt a pressure while listening to it. As in it was trying to tell me something. Whatever the case I was overwhelmed by the album. It plays it too safe in my opinion. I'd give it a 7/10 but I always go trough a album 2 or 3 times before giving a score.
