Hi, So, fourth and last ( probably ) chapter of my research.
In order to learn turkish I'm interested in discovering music from turkey, so I'm looking at good bands or songwriters from there.

Pretty much any genre, maybe not rap or electronic music.. ( still curious )
But if it is sounding like [Oxbow, Enablers, Daughters, The locust, Blonde redhead, radiohead, The Paper Chase, Arcade fire, Beirut, Other lives, parenthetical Girls, MONO, Black heart procession, Sigur ros, Silver Mt Zion, troy von balthazar] It can't be bad.

So yes, anywhere near Rock/experimental/post/profressive/ or metal music and kuddos if they're with turkish lyrics in it.

Posted this thread three times already, and everytime I got a few nice results, which is why I'm pushing it a little bit further today. For instance I'm digging NEM, Baris Manco, seza kirgiz and Gevende. And I didn't listen to all of it yet.
And while It's been very interesting, most of the answer I got were anatolian rock from the 70's, which is fine, but well not exactly my thing, if you have anything more 90's, 00's, 10's ish it's welcome :)

Thanks in advance, and thanks to those who already answered :)
Be well and good day to you!

pic is not exactly relevant.

I've always been interested in Turkish music OP, even if I haven't listened to a lot.

These three albums are all Turkish world / folk music; the first and last listed were released on ECM and are both stellar:

Kalhor, Kayhan and Erzincan, Erdal - Kula Kulluk Yakışır Mı (2013)
Kalhor, Kayhan and Fard, Ali Bahrami - I Will Not Stand Alone (2012)
Sinan, Marc - Hasretim – Journey To Anatolia (2013)

This one is a psychedelic / funk / jazz album, thoroughly enjoyable listen:

Özkent, Mustafa Ve Orkestrası - Genclik ile Elele (1973). Sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAf5e0RkXrM

Check out the labels Sublime Frequencies, Finders Keepers, and the Light in the Attic for reissues of old Turkish 'nuggets'-style albums similar to 'Genclik,' they might be of interest.

turkish guy here,
if you want to learn the language, try out Fazıl's Nazım Oratorio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e32iN2rmUXs
Although the Turkish in this is from very old times, it will make you familiar with the tonalities, especially the way how "dramatic" sounds in Turkish
Also, >>61812716 check this guy out. (Dude, why haven't we tasted the wine at the concert? I feel so bad about it.)

Check out:
Moğollar
Barış Manço
Fikret Kızılok
Erkin Koray (somewhat similar to Barış)
>>
>>61818035
reccomend me some R&B from Turkey
>>
>>61814450
I'm actually very surprised that people know her music, and appreciate it. I think she's awesome, have seen her live, she was like a mother of all of us.
Try Sabahat Akkiraz, Neşet Ertaş and Aşık Veysel.

>>61818103
:) AH FINALLY. GOOD STUFF. ( kidding... )
>>
>>61811896
Mogollar are pretty awesome anatolian rock. Well, they were, but I got a compilation album of theirs and it seems they lost their edge when they got old...
However their early stuff is still good. Mix of folk and rock in a quantity I can bear. The following is a playlist of one of their earliest albums, which was released in France: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpldSsfKdxU&list=PL0C665E26B23D92B3 I can't remember how much lyrical content there is, so it might not be great at learning though....

I checked the previous thread you made and someone recommended Hayvanlar Alemi. I have to re-recommend, they're pretty awesome.
>>
Nekropsi is turkish math rock I think
>>
Only know two.

Biblo
ambient/techno/drone/experimental/female vocals

Biblo is doing very moody quasi ambient, quasi glitch music. Worth a check
https://biblo.bandcamp.com/

Zeleia
ambient/drone/lo-fi

Two guys droning about.

>I have to re-recommend, they're pretty awesome.

You did well, they don't seem to be on my list,
I'll probably make my final post a summary of all I collected these past days, for "archiving".

While you just try to bump with "good music" you just pass for a dick that's screaming " LOOK AT MUSIC THAT'S BETTER THAN YOURS"...

That's lame.

be well!
