Yeah this is sometimes done for albums where some people get it before release. Each person's copy is slightly different, and the label keeps track of what copy went to which person so if it gets leaked they can trace it. Like a sound effect might be added in different places or something and it will sound like part of the song.

has anybody else been turned onto some god-tier music just by listening to Animal Collective's influences? the booklet in Person Pitch convinced me to get more familiar with The Zombies, Aphex Twin, the Orb, Syd Barrett--all artists I already liked, but subsequently dug deeper into. the band's interviews also convinced me to listen to Thinking Fellers and Black Dice, Sun Ra (love his sound already), and Can. I also found myself able to get into the Beach Boys through Animal Collective's sound. we really are blessed to have a band with such eclectic influences that give us great music and rec stuff that's just as good.

Don't try that shit on me. I've listened to way longer albums and didn't feel a tenth as annoyed. Plus all the sounds on chz don't add to the listening expierience. All of AnCo records have this ambiental sound to them, the thing is that chz sounds are not adding up to the songs, they're just basically "radio interference" its a nice idea, and im glad AnCo go on experimenting, but I don't think it adds up to the song writing in any good way.
