Probably not, no.
But why get so hung on people who made music worse? Think of all the musicians who influenced music for the better.
Miles was there for many revolutions in jazz - it's hard to think of someone else who would have been at the forefront of so many new trends in music

Most likely, Bach.
Chuck Berry if we're only talking about modern music.
>>61785572
Johnson's overall influence didn't even start until well after he'd died.
Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey deserve to be mentioned.

>Johnson's overall influence didn't even start until well after he'd died.
what does that matter? his influence is immeasurable
>>61786447
It really isn't. Rock and roll had already gone underway by the time he had a noticeable influence. There'd be a difference in popular music if Johnson was set to record, not nearly as big of one if Louis Armstrong, WC Handy, Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, The Carter Family or Jimmie Rodgers had never been.

*was never set to record

Bach isn't all that influential to music. He perfected baroque when it was already coming to an end. He could be regarded as important through siring the next generation of gallant and classical composers but Monteverdi or Fux is probably a lot more important to the development of music in that era.
>>61786654
Fux was important to Bach, but Bach became the teacher of every composer from his death until now, largely through his scores, but also through his teaching methods, species counterpoint for example.
Fux is great for writing renaissance music, but Bach's music defined the tonal system that we [mostly] use to this day.
Fux didn't write WTC books or art of fugue or 200+ cantatas. In Bach we have examples of most forms of his time, and by studying his scores we can learn how to construct tonal music at the highest level.
John Moses Browning
Iggy Azalea
Pitbull
As much as I love Miles, the only real contribution he made to modern music was popularizing the ideas behind Musique Concrete to pave the way for electronic music we have today.

MACINTOSH PLUS. not even joking or happy about it
>>61783645
probably skrillex
>>61786654
This is true. Beethoven is really the composer who is most influential out of all the classical composers. Or perhaps Wagner.
