No. Bohren & der club of gore released an album just a year ago or so
charlie parker, clifford brown, bud powell and roy haynes formed the culmination, the ne plus ultra on their respective instruments. it was all down hill after that.
No, it just evolved.
>yfw the whole genre peaked in 1928

there's something to this. that said, jazz is never going away, though. it was an innovation of group improvisation, which can't be stepped back from.

No It's just "sleeping"
still though, the first 60 years of jazz have produced enough great music for a life time.

This. Jazz is mostly improv so people shat out new albums almost at Buckethead speed
Kinda. Occasionally you'll get a good release, but as a whole, most all good jazz was released in the 20th century.
It's still alive. Like all other genres of music, it definitely has changed a lot though. Jazz is pretty well aware of other trends in music and takes them into consideration, too.
Blacks disavowed jazz and blues as the white man's music in the 70's in favor of soul and mo town. You'll have to go to New Orleans or Memphis to find an honest to god, down home, southern style jazz or blues band.
