It was their homage to one of their favorite musique concrete composers Tod Dockstader (Quatermass). His influence is heavy on that album.

It's an odd mix. You do get tracks with those influences, but then you also get some of their most straightforward techno and electro tracks since Anvil Vapre in there as well. I think it's the set-up (the very short vignettes shuffled about over 20 tracks) that makes it a weird experience, not necessarily the individual tracks themselves.
I do think it's one of their most confounding releases - I was able to get into Confield and Draft much easier.
