has anyone tried calling the NRR hotline? the B-side of the tape is playing there, unless Crumer changed it recently

the album dilloway is doing for dais records
the new hospital comp
the new genocide organ
hopefully the 3rd part of the puce mary & loke rahbek LP trilogy/whatever frederikke hoffmeier does

>Crumer LP
No Rent announced this? If FEATHERBOARD! lives up to its promise of being the future Crumer sound, then we have a lot to look forward to. Really cool release (pic related)
>New Hospital Comp
Is this Boomkat only? If 'Yes', I think its too much money. I would listen to this for Kevin Drumm and Alexandro Cortini let alone Prurient but that is a step price and there are a million other tapes I can get.
>Skin Crime Box-Set

i think he recorded the LP before blood & tahoe and featherboard, so where he goes from featherboard onward is anyone's guess

>Is this Boomkat only?

it looks that way at the moment
i thought the price of it was perfectly affordable, but then again i have no idea how much shipping it to the US would add to that price

>Announced? This would be one of the other aforementioned tapes I purchase.

fernow mentioned working on it in one of the hospital newsletters last year but divulged no specifics
it ain't a tape set though, according to haras and aspa it's a 20 CD(yes, twenty) box-set

>>
>>61763449
i thought blood & tahoe was fine, though it's suited best for background/reading music than it is for focused and attentive listening
featherboard i have not yet heard and don't even own
crumer has expressed a wish to have featherboard and the forthcoming tapes collected onto a single CD down the road, cocaine death-style, and i'm hoping he finds a label interested in doing that

>I thought BLOOD & TAHOE was fine, though it's suited for background/reading music
Agreed. It is such an odd one though. I wouldn't read when listening to it but...after a long day at work, it's a cool little warm up before you put on the heavy harshness.

For whatever reason, I dislike the single CD idea. I like these little C-10 tapes. They're like the tape equivalent of a 7 inch (a bit longer I suppose). I think they have their own personality as an individual package. Zen Zsigo has a cool interview on the subject. When I first read it I could only think "That's just cause you want us to buy the tape...." I get it now.

Unrelated but related, anybody VHS here?

I've always been into film/video (trolling /tv/) so wondering if anybody has found anything cool lately in that realm. Fuck /tv/ fuck STAR WARS. I'm a bitter cunt.

i have mixed feelings about compilations of material originally released as singles and EPs as well(though how well such releases function or don't function has more to do with the nature of the compiled material than the format itself), but i've also got enough good faith in crumer's judgment to believe he would make it work

US distribution will be handled by Forced Exposure. Given it's an edition of over 400 copies, I don't think there will be any issue for those of us in the states in getting it easy.

It's always been beyond me why Hospital has chosen a UK-based outfit as their chief distributor.

Heavy fan of both. Sam McInlay is a true artist and I am bound to purchase everything he makes.

Quoting Hazel from 'The Fault In Our Stars', "I would read your [his] grocery lists" so to speak.

I like VOMIR'S philosophy a lot. That was what initially drew me to the music. Very into asocial nothingness. His 'Shit Folk' music as Roro reminds me of material I used to make so that was a love at first listen as well.

You would probably like DEAD BODY COLLECTION. I'm starting to get into his stuff. The aesthetic and 'philosophy' drew me in (he runs PURE NOTHING WORSHIP Zine). I like his asocial and brutal aesthetic.

If you track your obsessiveness, add something of a ritual, add an aesthetic quoting this bro >>61765249 (did you succeed in what you set out to achieve with the walls) then chances are I can probably get into your stuff.

Post pictures of tapes in basement. I hope you live in a suburb cause (as I assume most here) I really like the idea of a recluse making hour upon hours of tortured sounds amongst the 'suburban haute bourgeoisie'.

>Pic related though, I wanted that shirt but I am a medium. I don't like the ill fit of large shirts. Small is too small though (my Posh Isolation is a small and I never wear it).

>>61765323
Agreed. I have a shitty drum machine fetish.
>>
>>61765323
not always but i felt that these drum sounds were cheesy.

>>61765329

you need to do more manipulation of your source sounds. some kind of reverb or really anything. it's all very dry.

the synths are nice, and the song got significantly better and more interesting at the five minute mark.

it's not bad for a first try, you should hear my first attempt at making noise!

in fact, here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6259120/07%20-%20We%20Found%20Nothing.mp3

i made that when i was either 13 or 14, depending on what the actual date of recording was.

i'm not sure exactly what kind of music inspired you or what the sound-aesthetic you were going for was, but to me, the digital nature of the sounds and the high-fidelity recording were not doing you any favors. you also dragged things out a bit too long in the beginning, but i am guilty of doing that myself.

what kind of mood or music inspired you here?
>>
>>61765439
I'm really into Throbbing Gristle this period so probably they inspired me. Also Merzbow but I'm not sure he influenced me that much.

And yeah, now I found an old recorder in my garage so I'll try to do something with it. Thanks for the feedback :)
>>
>>61765513
this is the main advice i'd like to give you though, and this is how i always finish any critique that i give to people:

your music exists to please YOU, and not me, or anyone else on the internet. if you are personally satisfied with it then that is the most important thing.

no prominent noise musician got to where they are by kowtowing to people who lay into them for having "cheesy" sounds or whatever. you do you.

i apologize if i seemed a little harsh, looking back on my original post i realize there wasn't very much warmth. i'm not good with my words when i am typing and not speaking.

if you are a total noise newbie, i will take this moment to recommend a few of my favourite records to you:

macronympha - pittsburgh, pennsylvania
swastikah kommando - 1983
deathkey - emanations of binaural terror
sick llama - born again to die

and one more final thought:

i have heard a lot of people speaking negatively about dudes who just recently get into noise and then start making their own. i think that's great, it's what i did when i was 13 and i believe that you can't really appreciate something fully until you know what it takes to create

i love when new people come around and ask for critique

alright i got around to listening to this clotting album.

the vocals are fantastic, i get this feeling of conviction with them, like he's not posturing. every once in a while the vocals of an album hit me just right and i feel like they're yelling right at me, you know?

i heard samples from true detective, when i recognize movie samples i get a little turned off but overall it was engaging and i didn't get bored even if t he noise got a little (i felt) monotonous at times.

Tracks should be 10 minutes long at most and you are limited to 1 track. Titles should be in a "(Town name) is a Town Where (Something about your town)" format, but if you can come up with something creative and cool, then that's fine as well!

I'm not rich or anything. I just budget well, work a lot, and have minimal expenses. Like bare minimum lol. Reading an interview with Zbigniew Karkowski (sort of noise related actually) really inspired me to budget well, focus on music, learn computer coding. He made more money than me but he paid rent in Tokoyo so it's all relative.

If I win this Ebay auction for an Korg ARP Odyssey I won't get the make noise system. A much different synth that nobody has any business paying over $600 for ever. The make noise would actually be useful in multiple capacities as opposed to the KORG ARP which I would exclusively use for my 'shit punk drum machine rape' projects.

>>61765179

He took 20 years to develope the ideas he even had to make the set up. My problem is when your set up is mostly modular or mostly pedal it just kinda falls flat on the ideas of audio decay that I guess are supposed to be in noise.(big time opinion btw)

Just do'in bits brother. I 100% agree with you. I listen to a lot of other music besides noise but a common theme is the assumption gear is going to do all the work for you.

Steve Via is just a good guitarist guys (I like Steve Via, fucking crucify me) having a $4,000 Jem will not make you Steve Via.

Although a Jem would be nice to have.

>>61777924
>>61779192
Short answer 'Yes'. Long answer, 'Yes and big time'

Speaking of gear, THE RITA barely has any. His sounds come from militant attention to detail and good sound sources (for what he tries to achieve in the wall, not 'good' as in the value of 'quality')

i've gone full computers for the time being transposed onto tape. heavily interested in using time/pitch shifted sample work to string ideas together rather than just random junk sounds. my straight ahead noise stuff is somewhere in between sick llama and msbr (yet again big time opinion maybe taking liberties)

my opinion on noise is that i can find a free alternative to just about anything i've ever seen an expensive piece of equipment do if i took the effort to look, i have a few nice things from over the years collecting but very minimal live set up.

the rita does great with just a wheel barrel of bricks or a skate ramp so he has no need for much gear wise else which is a great thing!

Cheap homemade options are where it's at for noise. As said I listen to other music so I've been wanting that Korg reissue of the ARP as soon as I heard they were making one. Ebay, Craigslist, flea markets, and thrift stores are your friends for noise or...anything really.

A lot of the tape machines Sick Llama use, you can find for like <$10 at thrift stores or garage sales. ATRAX MORGUE used cheap (at the time, the synth Marco used now goes for a lot of money circa analogue fetish) gear as well. Tapes decks, tape decks, tape decks. Sound record, sound recorder, sound recorder.

I like metal scraping against things and the sounds of flesh ripping so just having a basic portable recorder is good. I have a tascam I bought with an Amazon gift card that collects dust. I plan to connect a contact mic into it and...do stuff?

Anyway, 100% agree with you. I don't know what I'm going on about at this point.

I don't like the idea of judging women solely on their looks, but I'm a straight dude and if a girl is attractive then I can't help but notice. If the music is good her being hot is a bonus, I guess. It does change how I perceive the music though (usually for the better.)

I own an LP of his. I think it's great. Too bad it's not even remotely noisey! It's like post-punk vocals meets synth pop. The LP has an awesome cover of Stevie Nicks 'Rooms of Fire'. A+ album. I find it funny my first exposure of him had nothing to do with noise.

>>61785686
Well sometimes you just have to give things time, you know ? Forcing creativity never really works, at least for me. Maybe you could try changing your set-up, or even the kind of gear you use. I've been fiddling a lot with accoustic noise at the moment (strings, cymbals, motors etc), before that it was tape manipulation, and even before mostly pedal stuff. Now I mix the whole.

Do you have a link for your music ?

that's fucking awesome, how did it go? i heard sam is the nicest guy

take a break if you feel drained though. i find sometimes that forcing yourself to perform just makes it shitty. though there is some kind of desperation that translates by putting yourself in that situation, which can end up cool
