Chuck Person = RP Boo

Macintosh Plus = Spinn & Rashad

Saint Pepsi, ░▒▓【ALL CAPS AND αւτ kεÿ CΘᕸEᔕ™】░▒▓ = Jlin, DJ Paypal
>>
>>61760303
Oi, Jlin is probably the only person actually working in the RP style of works other than RP. They're both really close too, apparently. Respect.

Also, pretty disrespectful to associate some of the most influential names in the genre and the community (Rashad & Spinn) with a hack that ripped off a bunch of artists and continues to live off his godawful meme music. If you want a better comparison, the vapor/"Future funk" faggotry = Machine Girl. But really, it's pretty disrespectful to compare the two genres on pretty much any level.

Music = OPN, RP, Spinn Rashad & Co., Jlin, even Paypal
Memes = the rest
>>
>>61760449
>RP style
Nah, her music is too unable-to-dance to, and at times also feels too slow for footwork, it doesn't have a conventional beat or rhythm.

RP, I can fuck with him.
>>
>>61760449
No, I meant RP Boo is the originator, just like Chuck Person.

Spinn and Rashad were a second generation, they were influenced by RP Boo and the original juke/footwork producers and they made some incredible music. Hence the Mac+ comparison, everything after him was watered down shit and memes, same with footwork.

2015? I agree WLFGRL was AOTY in 2014 but neither Gemini or Phantom Tracks were that good.

I still find it so funny that people judge WLFGRL on nothing more than it's cover and the fact that one person viralled it. It's obvious people who describe it was Vaporwave or similar have never listened to any of it.

(Older) Vidya OSTs are usually a nice place to find /bleeps/ in a place where you wouldn't expect them normally. Streets of Rage, Ape Escape, Ridge Race, Tekken etc. all have OSTs with some pretty decent club sounding tunes.

It stands for variation in pressing and is an alternate mix of a track with limited vinyl pressings. It usually does go to VIPs to be fair.

what's the funniest thing you ever read/heard about dance music?

one of mine is from dsf :

>To get a little bit theoretical here. here goes my understanding of essentially what makes dubstep sound the way it does and how we should define music as "dubstep". My definition as to what comprises of dubstep is playing any combination of sounds layered together and then modulating certain parameters including BPM, to account for why dubstep sounds the way it does, as it reflects a million different sounds resampled back ontop of each other over and over at varying tempos which are recorded as a set of moment in time sounds and then layered together in ceratin pattern combinations to make any resulting music to the the idea that all new future forms of music will be further dubstep offshoots . The only defining characteristic that these new forms of music will be a general BPM range and eventaully give up on specific names or substypes of dubstep as it will eventually encompass a much wider tempo range ranging from 0 BPM to infinite. The final points in the recordings at which you take the specific samples are determined but theier assigned parameters and the resulting noise is the result of enless of sounds being folder over each other. To use an an analogy it is like the concept of a Katana where the metal is bent back and forth and back and forth and each time it becomes sharper, so to with a sound can it be quantified. You could then essentially layer one sound over and over with a few variations at different points in the tempo and it would completely determine the structure of the track itself by those changes made to the programming settings.
>Anyone think Im right out to lunch or else how to explain the dubstep offshoots(its like the dubstep of dubstep if ya get what i mean)?

Americans invented the club culture (disco)
They also invented techno and house
those are facts
>inb4 buttblasted yuropoors "m-muh kraftwerk"
they were fundamental in the creation of techno
but they weren't "proto techno" like the aryan anon here who can't accept the fact that he's listening to nigger music
nor they had absolutely nothing to do with club club culture, "swing" and "soul" that makes techno music a completely different animal than Kraftwerk's robotic and soulless repetitions
almost every other dance music genre owes it to Americans or Americans influences. dnb/jungle is based on an American record, 2step/garage is an offshot of American house music, and so on
America is the greatest export of culture in the world. When was the last time I heard a norwegian act? or a french album? exactly
Yuropoors will never ever get to feel what it feels to be a cultural powerhouse

The thing is, american bashing is not about what they did in the past,we aint hating on detroit techno/chicago house our any other classics.

were laughing at the current state of dance music in america, and you as an american you can surely tell me there is something wrong with it.

it's literary the worst place atm to be a fan of techno/house in, only if you live in specific places you are safe from this and just barely.

also i'm 100% sure most american who browse /bleep/ aren't from nyc miami chicago detroit but some middle of nowhere shitthole prairie.

Better than Flume and Disclosure, desu. Then I proceed to put on my vinyl copy of Chance of Rain that I carry on me at all times
>>
Lads, why are we all so awkward?

The only people I know irl into /bleep/ are all skinny tall white bois who are extremely knowledgeable about music and not particularly loud or obnoxious but they get that way slightly when they hang out with *their* people and only ever hang out in *their* clubs at *their* nights and *their* house parties where everyone just bobs around to same-y sounding bleeps and bloops that nobody knows and listens to except the people in the room

and they act all nice to your face and encourage you to get involved and get into DJing etc but it all feels like bullshit when they act like so self-concerned all the time and never seem interested in any scenes other than their own
>>
>>61770732
what the fuck are you even saying

did you enjoy that ambient-techno release or not? it contains no samples
>>
>>61770735

You're not even making sense, please stop being so nonsensical it's not making sense stop it now. Please. THank you. I will stop with the me if you stop with that not really I won't stop because this is me. Is this really you? If it is, no, no, I don't like that.

It might be this manipulated and reversed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd5l1-yz3X4

It also might not be anything specific. For example this track at 2mins in sounds a little like the beginning of Proto but faster.

>into /bleep/

You mean into dance music or do they browse here? Anyway, the sooner you realize there are idiots everywhere regardless of their cultural appartenance... and of course having a relatively good taste doesn't mean you're not a total fucking asswipe.
with techno being very fashionable now and since a few years, there is much more newcomers trying too hard to fit in. I knew some peeps like that, like 6 months ago they were clueless, and now they complain every time they hear something that ain't techno/house. Note that I'm all for newcomers and I love sharing music with people regardless of their background, but for fuck's sake, show some integrity (and open mindedness, if you can... I know some people can't).
>>
>>61771945
>being very fashionable now

Did dance music go out of fashion?
>>
Any helsinki man in
>>
>>61771945
NIggers, birthsh people, and the Uk are all fucking stupid.
>>
>>61771982
What do you mean?
>>
>>61772029
For it to be in fashion atm, I assume it went out of fashion for a while? I haven't paid attention that much but didn't think it had.
>>
>>61772056
>Implting obscure dance culture was ever cool ecept to reject drug entuhsists and weirdos.
>>
>>61771982
Ha, gotcha. Well yeah, sort of. Back in circa 2005 there wasn't half as much techno fests and parties, and most cool kids in the metropols were still listening to justice and daft punk.
>>
>>61771051
>It's true.. I'm a Taylor Swift fan.

No idea about the German scene though man.. The UK scene varies from city to city too though, Bristol isn't as hipster as London although it's heading that way.
>>
>>61772121
but then 4cjan and redot lineriated them amiright?

>>61772056
I mean it's been fairly obvious, at least where I live, that techno and house gained an enormous audience since 2010, when it really started to boom. I don't even know how that happened tbqh. Would be an interesting subject of research.
>>
>>61772187
your niece sux 40 cox also her taste in usic means nothing excpet for the fac t that hs'es better than everyone am i right? or no?

>>61772245
Could you repeat that in English?
>>
>>61772121
Tbqh mid 2000's sounds like a horrible time for dance music, you had dubstep if you lived in the right places in the UK.

but for the rest it sounds all commercial as fuck, most tracks i listen to round 2005 are shit as fuck too, Think that was the time loco dice tech house became popular too.

were living in a right era, with all this 90's revival shit.
>>
>>61772257
or you need to have a fucking real beat because the 80s are all you've ever hear since 201145 because you don't thnk abut anything new only bbeing cool with your friends who dont't think about anythimg except wow dude I am cooll I have new 4x4 new drum baet except iut's not new.
>>
>>61772188
Yes of course, but it's miles away from dance music made to be played at 6 am in a warehouse for a dozen of sweaty nerds. It's much closer to pop music than anything else.
>>
>>61772276
wpah m8 turny mad tbhis not usupirsing since you man weho posts on 4chan fukin man who posts on 4chan mad becuse I tell turht and you don't know difeeerence betweeen 30 year old beat and new beat

Here it's people from newer generations re-discovering drugs, back in the day i thought only wasteman Gabbers used drugs at party's.

growing older, finding something different to experience then what has been the "norm" for all this time led me to my first techno party 2-3 years ago.

What i have noticed techno attracted a sorta "crowd" were i live, really open minded people.

That is until ladhouse became popular a few months and techno party's being crowded with lads.
>>
>>61772346
ladhouse just term for house in gneral cause house sucks ass but everyboyd y too lazy

>>
>>61772279
Frankly I wasn't old enough to party at the time but I think they always were a couple of obscure nights every weekend even in those rough times (in fairly big cities that is). Today have its con too. For example its getting harder to find a night that isn't shit techno/house here, I feel most djs try too hard to adapt to the hype - or have simply no personality. The uk bass and techno crossover boom around 2010 led to a lot of awesome and diverse nights at the time though. both sort of went downhill from there.
>>
>>61772187
I like four tet I also like calvin harris

they're all p. mediocre even for commercial trance, listen to 1-3 and then get into the Global Underground series, the mixing tends to be much better

i did it all for the nookie

yeah I've given a lot of the global undergrounds a listen at least sasha digweed and deep dish unless there is some underrated one in there I missed.

ooh shit i was there, def 1 of the more interesting promoters of the country.

Was a wicked 2nighter NYE + NYD.
>>
>>61772862
the Nubreed offshot has some nice banging tribal house stuff, Anthony Pappa, Kleinenbergs and (specially) Satoshi Tomiie have a lot of nice lush tunes

As for GU, off the top of my head both of Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Danny Howels and Dave Seaman's have pretty good mixing. IIRC around GU 24 they kind of lost the plot, but prog was dying by then

>How do I revive trance

deconstruct it ;) that's what I'm currently trying to do
