Seriously? Hisako Tabuchi is great. She joined bloodthirsty butchers after NG who are my joint favourite band of all time, and she has her own band (toddle) which is good too (kinda non offensive indie rock type stuff).

As for NG or ZB, they're both way too different to compare. It's a bit like comparing Joy Division to New Order or something. There's not much point because they're so different. I think I'm right in saying that Mukai wrote everything in NG, and I think he writes everything in ZB too, so he's pretty fucking amazing.

Lostage is a pretty great punk-ish band who I'm loving at the moment. Also Mass of Fermenting Dregs, Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Acidman are worth a listen.

sakanaction are another great Japanese band, but they're nothing like the others. More synth poppy sort of synth rock or whatever.
