I'm older than the average 4chan poster, but I look back on certain aspects of my childhood and can't imagine them happening today: My best freind's parents were hardcore hippy types (with a great, eclectic music collection and they didn't even own a TV so they were always playing cool stuff). Some people (like me) like the sound of noise music. For something like power electronics, think of its visceral nature in the same way you would metal music (inb4 hurr metal's not music). Therefore, in a lot of cases, people enjoy the music because of the atmosphere it creates. As far as topics and concepts go, the most important thing to consider is that exploring a concept or finding interest in a concept =/= supporting its contents, and even in the cases where a project does, it may be a genuine expression of a belief (Artist intent is hard to measure, but sometimes tangible. Regardless, you get the point.). Think of it in the same way you would a horror movie or novel. Or think of it in the same way you would a person interested in war or abnormal psychology.
