This just proves how much hoaxes are good for business. On one hand your respect decreases by 100%. On the other you gain the following of a brand new demographic of people who weren't around in the hey-day.
>>

>>61677675
God I can still feel the pain though.
All I've been doing is researching everything about him, he's a fucking legend, seriously.
Even my turbo-pleb parents are seriously touched by this, and I'm enjoying everything they're enjoying, it's weird.

I just download Low and Ziggy Stardust, I think I'm going to go semi-chronologically.
But I think I really missed the emotional impact, could you imagine being a serious Joy Division fan and hearing the news of Curtis' suicide?
>>
>>61677749
>hoaxes

holy shit fuck you

every time a musician dies there's some bullshit conspiracy because they refuse to believe these people die. it's fucking childish. grow up you cunt

drunk oldfag here, I like this thread. Forget all the blah blah about Bowie, a lot of it is just fucking pure fun, even the 'serioius' stuff is fun. I can't stop playing Young Americans really loud.

Them sweet sweet back vox, that slick sax... Listened to it twice today, just can't get enough

I just finished a bottle of whisky and his discography, I'm just about ready to softyly myself to sleep.

I've honestly never been hit by someone I dont truly know dying before now. The worst part is that he knew it. Blackstar will be forever a treasure.
>>
>>61677956
We'll listen to it all night then, I'll pour myself a drink, it's better to drink with friends
>>
The music isn't going anywhere. Don't act so hurt, he's a dead famous person.

But now plebs are all talking about missing him and I can literally only say I know the hits.
That's vain as fuck though, but honestly I wish I'd fallen in love before I knew it was all going to end with him fucking dying on Blackstar

Wincest thread?

I like Black Star, but so far wouldn't give it more than 6.5, without looking too much into lyrical content and considering his death. It still sounds like just pop music mostly, if dressed up and adorned with some weird shit on the surface. But also the quartet he chose to play with him is great, and it's cool to see current relevant jazz musicians get recognition for it outside the scene. Anyway, does he have any albums I could be pretty into when I have a big distaste for pop? Like, I don't like Low, and that's supposed to be like some breakout where he starts doing weird shit or something, isn't it
>>
>>61678529
try Station to Station
>>
>>61676823
I always like Bowie, but it took his death for me to go back and listen to his albums fully (only ever listented to the "Best of Bowie" type stuff)

And fucking god dammit, Spiders from Mars is actually a 10/10 A+ masterpiece why didn't I listen to this fully sooner christ almighty

I think we all did. He was too weird and perfect to ever consider that he would leave us.
>>
>>61678529

Try listening to Outside.
>>
>>61678560
I'll be completely honest: it's because I thought he wasn't as patrician as other stuff I wanted to listen to.
Now I have to look inwardly for an explanation of my mistakes, it looks like the explanation is I'm a douche.

I'm in the same boat. Actually by the time of his death I already heard every song off of Ziggy Stardust, but listening to them all in a row like that, one after the other. It's odd man, but it just goes together so well.

Rock n' Roll Suicide is like, the greatest way ever to end an album I swear.
>>
What does /mu/ think of Let's Dance?
>>
>>61678853
I personally like it quite a lot but that's where a lot of his mainstream success came from so /mu/ probably hates it
>>
>>61678853
Great pop song, a nice blend of retro feels and, at the time, modern sounds (listen to those compressed drums and synths)

Some of his best songs (title track, Modern Love) but super uneven album. not bad by any means though

Hes really fucking mediocre. Literally the Lady Gaga of the 70s.

Am I the only one who thinks the Black Star video is fucking amazing

he had far more cultural impact than gaga anon

I don't mind if you don't like bowie, honestly I'm not a huge fan myself, but that is just silly contrarianism
>>
Gaga has literally got pictures of Bowie on her dressing room walls.
>>
>>61679156
are you just spouting random words?
>>
>>61679276
>cultural impact
This has nothing to do with music.
I'll agree, he has a huge influence on POP culture, he's a pop cultural icon. But musically he's nothing special.
>>61679302
No, friend. See my posts here >>61679279 and here >>61657909 on the subject.
>>
>>61679294
So do a lot of people, your point?
>>
>>61678853
One of my favorite by him. Very fun. I sang Modern Love drunk off my ass at my Uncle's Wedding with the best man who looked like Paul Blart Mall Cop. After I was done I took the longest piss of my entire life to the point where I was genuinely scared about my well being.
>>
>>61679325
well that is obviously down to the individual
the comparison to gaga is still blatantly stupid
>>
>>61679343
the point is that Bowie is much more important than Gaga will ever be, but then again, he's dead and she's not, what a drag.
>>
>>61676823
same, I always "need to get around to listening to all of" his stuff, like many artists. Oh well, today radio stations had marathons, so I'm starting today. No shame in it.
>>
>>61679348
It's really not. Gaga is highly influenced by Bowie (she cites him as his biggest influence), and apparently the influence is mutual.
Both cultivate similar eccentric faux avant-garde public personas, both write catchy pop songs that are nothing particularly special. She's almost Bowie 2: Electric Boogaloo. On the other hand she wasn't a pedophile so it makes her morally superior, if artistically equivalent.

me and my ex used to fuck to the rise and fall of ziggy stardust all the time
we'd always giggle when moonage daydream came on and opens up with "I'M AN ALLIGATOR"

sigh, have meant to get into the rest of his discog ever since that but just haven't for whatever reason, now I feel like if I do I'll just be hopping on a bandwagon and not doing it justice

yeah, it's ok.
fwiw I'd rather the children were listening to gaga and getting 'something' than some cheesed up boyband.

Anti-bowie trolls can fuck themselves, nothing they post is going to matter, he's done his thing with ultimate style and ended like an ancient god king, fuck them all.
>>
>>61679761

Edgeshits show their true plebiean nature by shitposting Bowie discussion, as anyone who doesn't like any Bowie music just does not like music at all.
