So hard to chose, every song is so great. I'll have to go with Station to Station at the moment. The anon who said Word on a Wing is also very wise. This really hurts man. I didnt really get into David Bowie until a few months ago but I really fell in love with his music. It was great anticipating blackstar and now he's gone. I wish i was a fan for longer.

I love a lot of Bowie's 90s work though. That's my favourite era for him. Really there are a bunch of songs from Black Tie White Noise, Earthling, Outside and The Buddha of Suburbia that are good candidates for his best IMO.

Hard to narrow it down to just one, but if forced to I'd say Hours as fave album, and Thursday's Child as fave track from that album.
Album is probably Low, since other than that and like 3 other albums, I listen to Bowie like New Order, by singles.
Song is honestly Where Are We Now. I never felt Bowie so directly open and vulnerable as with that one, and the final "as long as there's" verse has one of those unforgettable guitar melodies on the level of Heroes, Sound and Vision, etc.

Ashes To Ashes is the song that set me off this morning. I heard the news and had the urge to put this album on. Cried for about an hour. Something about Bowie, man. I've never really been upset when a celeb died before. This felt like a friend passing. He was just such a huge part of my life.

For me, I think it's because he was more than just another source of entertainment- he was both an inspiration and influence. He was the ultimate gateway artist for me, I got into so many genres and bands thanks to him. Basically, he was a real creative hero for many, and I think that's why it hurts so much.

Gosh, it's sad that he's gone, but god knows what an incredible life he had. And how his music and spirit has inspired the world. On top of that he releases Blackstar, his best solo work since late 70's imo, a couple of days before he dies.
It's kind of bittersweet really. Like saying goodbye to something fulfilled and beautiful.
