Have you ever thought about how utterly absurd it is that humans enjoy music? I mean, we literally pump organised sound into our ears and deride pleasure from it. There's no scientific reasoning behind this

In all liklihood, human speech began as wails that were almost sung similar to birds or whales. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/musicinstinct/video/music-and-evolution/music-and-the-neanderthals-communication/66/

Now, this is purely conjecture, but if songs are similar to sounds usually associated with happy signals or sad signals that might be why some musical notes convey a happy or sad connotation. Furthermore, if someone is in the mood to listen to sad songs, they probably are, on an a purely primal level, trying to hear a call that confirms and supports their belief as assurance.

In other words, music is an extension of and a way to enforce emotion and behavior.

It's for bonding anon. Humans have been singing in groups since the beginning of time. It's kind of like ape birdsong.

Who knew that we would twist this to telling eachother we're better than faceless strangers on an imageboard for liking more obscure forms of computer noise that mock human singing patterns.
