i want to like buckethead, he's a really technically great guitarist but he can't write a song worth dick t b h f a m
Suprised no one's mentioned Mark Knopfler yet
Also he's not technically amazing or anything but Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro
>>61607435

If you've got two and a half hour to kill
wes borland of limp bizkit & black light burns
>>61607511
Why would he hold it like a normal acoustic guitar, why not have that classical sitting posture?
>>61603298
what about the guy who plays with Billy Cobham? Tommy Bolin I think...
>>61607815
Jesus Christ I'm hard!
>>61607882
I've noticed that, he also uses incorrect right hand fingerings, like repeating his index finger multiple times rather than alternating between middle and ring fingers. His technique isn't necessarily "perfect," but he's still a damn good guitarist. As far as his right and left hand posture though, those are god-like
>>61607755
>>61607559
He's written a countless amount of gems, he just has hundreds of albums so it's difficult to sift through so many of his 'eh' songs
>no shawn lane
kill yourselfs
Toisin Thumbasi
>>61607815
this is essential dad-core for me. I love this stuff despite (or maybe because of) the "wankery"
>ctrl + f
>Jason Becker
>0/0
>Malmsteen
>0/0
You may not like their style too much, but you have to admit they are the best shredders out there.
>>61609211
Malmsteen literally just plays the harmonic minor scale fast.
guthrie govan
Dave Mustaine, his solos may be lacking and his singing garbage, but I don't think there is a single guitarist who can top his riffage.
>>61609630

Hendrix allegedly thought that Terry Kath was better than him.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DPZUgfOqAdg
No particular order:
Fred Frith, Robert Fripp, Carl-Michael Eide, Derek Bailey, Hasjarl (whatever his real name is, it's a bloody mystery), L. A. Spinetta, Caspar Brötzmann, Andrés Segovia, Davy Graham, Ernest Ranglin, Frank Zappa, Hans Reichel, John McLaughlin, Yusaf Parvez, Justin Broadrick, Allan Holdsworth, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Levene, Luc Lemay, Joni Mitchell...
I dunno. Probably more.

Little bit of his singing. He was known as the White Ray Charles
>>61607559
Yeah, most of his stuff is just generic guitar wankery, but some of his albums are actually really good:
>Population Override
>Colma
>Pike 13
>Albino Slug
>A Real Diamond in the Rough
>Electric Sea
And I remember liking a more recent Pike, Wall To Wall Cobwebs, but I don't really recall why I liked it or really anything about it.
>>61603316
>>61604690
>songs: David Gilmour

Those solos on Comfortably Numb and On The Turning Away still make me jizz every time.

>>61607559
Aunt Suzie is really good both technically and "emotionally"
Should I give Joe Satriani another chance? I see people praise him a lot and that he's an amazing guitarist, but I heard his first three albums and was very underwhelmed. I don't think it was his technique that was lacking, just the songs overall that left me bored.
Danny Gatton
Sonny Sharrock
Freddie King
Albert Collins
