I just listened to this and got blown away by how depressing it sounds. Similar sad post rock albums? Listened to everything else by gybe

I find all 2nd-3rd wave post-rock to be quite depressing (exlcuding 1-st wave because everything that falls under that label is so mucyh different it hardly makes any sense to put it under one genre) so all I can suggest is expore more of the genre really.

can you tell me the difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd waves of post rock?

Not even the obnoxious pretentious cunts who push the -wave elitism concept have any idea. All it boils down to is "Swans, Slint, and Talk-Talk are first-wave post rock and part of the same genre despite hardly sharing any common qualities between each other to justify them being the same genre in the first place. GYBE, Sigur Ros and Mogwai are second wave because they started out the established sound and they were the earlier ones. Third wave is everything that came after that and it's all shit because it sounds similar".

People really count Slint as post-rock?

Discogs, wikipedia, /mu/, last.fm, they all label it that way. The whole concept of first wave is pretty fucking stupid in my opinion.

Anyway if you're looking for more recs, Mi Media Maranja by Labradford has some pretty pleasant melodies going on. I quite like the spaghetti western vibe with the first track especially.

Was there ever any intention to form "post-rock"? Does intention matter?
