Really enjoyed the album instrumentalwise and the vocal delivery was also great, however I'm not really a fan of the actual lyrics. I ignored them for the most part. Do you guys have any recommendations for me that belong into the realm of freak/prog./avant folk?

Kinda digging the sample. I'll give the album a shot. Thanks! I'm in a listening mood tho so I could use a few more recommendations.

Lyrically I liked some moments on Drip Drip but at some points I just get the same cringe feeling I get when I listen to certain edgy metal songs. I'm not saying that both have the same intent behind. I even think that First Utterance is infinitely better written than the kind of songs I'm talking about. It's just this feeling in the back of my head that I can't really rid myself off. I hope that this feeling will cease to exist once I listened to FU a few times.

I dunno if this is what you're looking for, OP, but it is some damn good freak folk.

I dig it even tho the vocals seem a bit obnoxious. Maybe I'll get used to them. Thanks!

Those two are perfect! Thanks for the recommendation and the links!
I have a lot of recommendations that were recorded around the 70's. I'd also like to listen to something with a rather modern production, so far I only got one. Does anyone have a more contemporary freak/avant/prog folk recommendation?

Thanks!
Lyrics are a lot more upfront in this album, hard not to take notice of them. Although I would say this is definitely more tongue and cheek than Comus. It's nowhere near as dark. Still, fantastic freak-folk, witchcrafty vibe.

Actually meant to post this ICSB album. Both are great, though this is closer to Comus

I never cringe at lyrics man, I don't know what to tell you. Sometimes art needs to be edgy in order to be impactful, it's just a strategy of presenting abstract ideas.
