so I know but I'm a few years behind but hear me out
I almost don't listen to metal at all anymore. I just finished listening to this album for the first time and wow!
can you suggest to be other Opeth albums or other bands...?
Listen to still life by opeth as well.

its good that you liked it because it is one of their "worst" albums in my opinion, so you will probaly like the rest of their albums.
Bands: Agalloch, Edge of sanity
Albums (Opeth): Still Life, Ghost Reveries
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Panopticon - Roads to the North
Gazpacho - Night
Boris - Feedbacker
Between the Buried and Me - The Great Misdirect
Canvas Solaris - Sublimation
TesseracT - Altered State
I'm just kinda spouting mixed genre things that might be similar. Hopefully these are decent and I'm not a total sperger
Sound Awake by Karnivool
Seconding everython TesseracT
Obviously Tool, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree yada yada, all great bands.

seconding Karnivool especially this gorgeous and underrated album

I don't understand how this album isn't liked by the community. Their sound is on a whole other level on this one.

There's other prog metal thread already so lurk there

Because it's bland and dull
This album is the best representation of their music from all of their eras. It's dark, melodic, atmospheric, and has great musicianship throughout.
Was never a fan of the epilogue track so I'm going to say it's the weakest on the album, but it's a nice jazzy-ish tune

Just listen to all off Opeth's stuff up to Ghost Reveries.
It's a bit different but Mikael did the vocals for Katatonia's Brave Murder Day, who is also a really good band in general. It's not really like the albums after it at all though, since they opted for a more depressive rock sound. They've slowly been picking up some prog hints in their music though so if you dig that then check out the stuff from The Great Cold Distance onwards.

So OP, its not necessarily opeth, however I feel like you would like these guys
