>The statement "no samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this record" can be found at the end of the sleeve notes. Similar statements were made in the band's subsequent albums.

how cringeworthy

mmm nah not really

>no samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this record" can be found at the end of the sleeve notes

What did they mean by this?
>>
it might be because of "we play real muziik xD", but it might also be to note that Tom Morello's guitar playing is ridiculously good
>>
pretty funny to brag about that on an album that relies entirely on its production
>>
The guitar often sounds like scratching records when in fact it's all done on a guitar. It's not that complicated.
>>
Does it matter?

Don't get me wrong, no one had really made those kinda sounds with a guitar before.

Why is it impressive tho? They would be relatively normal using synths tho.

By the time you add a chain of fancy guitar pedals a guitar becomes a synth anyway.

Why should the listener care about the process?
>>
>thinking this statement was made in a condescending way

Before immediately assuming it was made as a jab at other genres, it's worth noting that the sounds Tom Morello was making on the guitar were actually pretty unusual at the time. It's just an honest statement. Besides, this is coming from a band that was well known for being influenced by hip-hop music.

Another one comes from Pantera

in reference to the record company practice of having bands play covers of established bands to get themselves known, the singer had this to say about covering sabbaths "planet caravan"

>This is a Black Sabbath song off of the Paranoid album. So don't freak out on us. We did the song because we wanted to. It has nothing to do with the integrity of our direction. It's a tripped out song. We think you'll dig it. If you don't, don't fucking listen to it. Thanks. On behalf of the rest of Pantera, Phil Anselmo '94

jesus..

This, there's nothing really cringe worthy, the disclaimer has its place.
