I really like the idea of music telling a story or having an aesthetic (especially a sic fi or futuristic aesthetic). Vaporwave has always seemed to miss the mark for me, I never really got it. I'm talking especially of the really stereotypical slowed down shit that seems to plague the genre.
That was until I heard pic related. This shit is fucking fantastic and is something that I've been looking for for a long time; an atmospheric, cinematic ambient album that has this dark, sic-fi feel to it. I urge everyone to listen to this, forget about it being vaporwave just fucking listen to it.

Vek had the aesthetic and conceptualism down from the get-go, I don't believe the idea of vaporwave being as shallow as "taking you to a different time/place/universe" shtick, that's not vaporwave's job.
Incidentally, I had no clue Vek dropped an ambient drone album last year that's actually pretty great, I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere at all, guess I just missed the particular threads/posts.
