Will rock ever make a resurgence in the mainstream again?
>>
>>61523346
im sure it will. The rap/electronic stuff is getting old too
>>
>>61523346
>rock
>>61523362
>rap

these arent real genres anymore btfo
>>
>>61523346
It will, but it won't look the same, and it may need to die for now. I think jazz is due for a resurgence before rock, especially since everyone seems to be so sick of electric guitars.
>>
Maybe a little in the future. After hip-hop dies from the mainstream, and some other genre picks up where it left up (my guess it will be folk), there will be a ton of revivalist trying to bring back "true" rock music to the public.

But seriously, I am really hesitant to know what plebian garbage you listen to

Yes, once Trump becomes elected and PC finally dies the painful death it so richly deserves, and once I and most of America have changed our underwear after peeing in it from laughing so hard from that happening, those who are in charge of making the mainstream mainstream will have no choice but to cut the PC liberal sissy effeminate crap and start catering to true Americans once again.

I have hidden this thread due to the image.

>once Trump becomes elected
you joke, but it's actually going to happen. I am from the future. also no, rock never comes back.
>>
>>61523787
bland country music already panders to this demographic though

I hate country music, and the modern SJW PC movement and I love rock music. I'm far from the only one who feels this.
>>
lol?
>>
>>61523938
Dude...This fucking kicks ass.
>>
>>61523787
If Trump gets elected punk might legitimately make a comeback.
>>
>>61524013
No one cares what YOU, specifically, like. It's unfortunate but the GOP is still heavily associated with and dependant on good-ol'-boys from the south who love their baptist church. And boy do they love bland country music that panders to them.

Indie folk is already one of the most popular genres of the last decade.
>>
>>61523398
Jazz won't make a comeback because people aren't interested in making Jazz. Also Jazz at it's peak was the black meme which is now hip hop.

>>
>>61523787
the type of music you're wanting is made by libs who would be making politically-charged songs that are anti-trump. there are maybe only one or two right-wing modern artists that are actually good.
>>
>>61524179
Trump is not Reagan. He's opposed to neo-liberal trade policies which is a huge difference.
>>
>>61524231
not so much in how they actually work but rather as a symbol to rally against

i dont know OP! will disco ever come back? will blues jazz ever be mainstream again!? haha!
>>
>>61524267
Even Trump voters like rock music. Country music is largely unpopular in parts of this nation, New England in my experience.
>>
>>61524284
Some variation of it.
>>
>>61524364
This. I highly doubt traditional rock will ever be back; maybe sampled and trampled but I really don't think it's going to happen. Rock isint techie enough.
>>
>>61524284
>will disco ever come back
A sizable chunk of the top selling records on Juno are disco releases.
>>
I am actually expecting a jazz revival. and its going to be a really shitty one but thats whats next, wait for it.
>>
>>61524310

Nutmegger here.

Most of NE hates Country, but 75% of the non-Top 40 stations are Country for some bizarre reason.
>>
Doesn't trump support the TPP, though?
>>
Rock hasn't even started yet.

There is literally so much to be done because of the pedals that can be used, amps that can be used and guitars that can be used.

Plus rock hasn't gone into weird formulas yet.

I've yet to hear a good hip hoppy/ trip hoppy style applied to rock instruments.
>>
>>61523346

Let it stay in the underground.

every time rock or anything moderately heavy with substance gets popular, it gets turned into shit.

70's rock/metal got turned into glam metal
punk/hardcore got turned into shitty whiny pop punk and modern "sad about my girlfriend and mad at my parents" hardcore.
>>
>>61523787
>rock music
>being pro-right wing

Not even most metal is right wing. I think contemporary country might be more your speed. Stay away from Johnny Cash though. He'll probably trigger you something fierce.

wtf are you even talking about? where the fuck have you been this whole time?
>the album
>>
>>61526288
I'm real into that but that's more house influenced.

I mean something with a big bass, and a slowish repetitive drums done together in a style like hip hop/ trip hop. A bit like Portishead but more rocky.
>>
>>61526110
rock is hella shit right now
>>
>>61526327
Too hip hop. That's basically hip hop in my ears. Needs to appear rock, but have that influence

Otherwise you get a sound like that band 'Regurgitator'
>>
blues influence has become so cliche
>>
Yeah it will come back.

Rap is already dying with "Trap" taking its place almost entirely, and shitty pop seems stronger than ever. It's just a matter of time.

Rock is the genre that i listen the most, but the best thing that could happen to the genre is dying, at least for a couple of years.
(Yes, i know, "it's already dead m8").

I believe that Jazz is actually in the process of having a resurgence currently
>>
>>61526471
No.
trap and drill are 2 different styles

Traps that roland 808 crunk music you can party to

Drill is like bell melodies with triplet hi hats that makes u wanna pick up the drug trade.

Thats like saying chief keef ans gucci sound the same
>>
>>61526499
"to the genre", "to the genre" i should start reading before sending, what the fuck.
>>
>>61526523
Yeah, these are a lot of the reason I say this, and especially jazz-based music that is NOT the blues

The blues are painfully played out and recycled in such an unattractive way, and give the guitar too much power.
>>
>>61526327
>dude weed lmao: the album
get this shit out of my face
>>
>>61526376
> Needs to appear rock, but have that influence
first half is worst song off the album, second half is best song, im warning you now, however, this is VERY rockish, almost to a fault. again, worst song on the album, its the closer, it feels almost like a crime to post this. also the second one is very rock as well. again, not the better tracks.

This

Need more shoegazey influence and maybe more grunge/stoner rock.

That whole part of rock is still largely unexplored, mainly because so few musicians have successfully mastered it. Especially shoegaze.

Apart from MBV I don't think anyone has mastered shoegaze. Shoegaze isn't simply a heavy "cocteau twins" or ambient rock, it's got more grit and tends to fuck with the textures in a dirtier way.

I think Tame Impala came close with innerspeaker, that scratchy crackly guitar is similar to what shoegaze is about. Which is propbably why Shields praised that album and did something similar in his MBV album.
>>
I hope so.
>>
>>61526601
don't forget more post rock influence, that would be rad
>>
>>61526601
I know I'm going to get flak for this. But I think the most successful recent example of what you're talking about was strange mercy by st. vincent.
>>
>>61526655
not noisy enough
>>
>>61526601
Part of the problem is normies hate it so it will never get picked up or become big.
>>
>>61526587
the nofilter part of that first link is DOPE god damn the first half is meh but the second part he literally sounds like eminem thats crazy
>>
>>61526686
I guessed I lucked out cause Tame Impala came from my city so everyone here likes that music.

Actually considering nothing quite sounds like our scene I'm glad that shit got big here.
>>
>>61526655
That end part got close, but it needs more dirt.

The bass and drums are perfect though.
>>
>>61526655
Actually, they ripped off fleetwood mac

I can definitely see the similarities but in my opinion it's distinct enough to stand on its own. But if that doesn't work for you cheerleader or surgeon by her are also a viable alternatives as an examples.
