Looking to buy my buddy a turntable for his birthday, any recommendations in the 90-150$ price range?
>>
Crosely, the one that looks like a brief case
>>

ive browsed /mu/ long enough to know crosley is shit
>>
I have the at lp 120. The needle is slightly off center with the rest of the cartridge. My records sound fine though. Should I worry?
>>
LP-120 is the best lower priced table, go with that or don't. LP-60 if you're desperate, it'll sound okay too

Go listen to Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
You have basically got my music taste a year ago
You might also like Funeral by Arcade Fire, Pinkerton by Weezer and Merriweather Post Pavillion by Animal Collective

AT-LP60 or 120 if he can find a cheap one.
Some good shit right here
>>
>>61521771
Embarrassing. I'm sure your mom is disappointed that you wasted your allowance on that crap.
>>
what are some good poorfag preamps and speakers?
>>
>>61521928
dunno which you're referring to
some of them were gifts

>>61521991
unfortunately

>>61522000
sufjan will wait until i'm done with this anberlin album. will listen.
funeral is good. haven't bought it on record yet.
don't like weezer, but i can give it a shot.
is animal collective /just/ memecore, or are they actually good?
>>
>>61522050
you too
>>
>>61522088
you must remember about /mu/core, it always gets meme'd and what not because people actually like it and don't want people to know. merriweather is good. and you're also a good friend for getting your pal a turntable
>>
>>61522115
not op, but thanks. i'll give it a listen too.
>>
>>61522149
yeah no worries, /mu/core is hated (i think) for the sole purpose of wanting to go against the grain. give that stuff a listen though, a lot of it is good.
>>
>>61521928
This makes no less sense than buying anything on vinyl

Pretty cool. I'm saving for a decent tt and some vinyls but they are expensive as fuck where i live.

Asuming you like those records, check these out
Crystal Castles s/t (2008)
Atoms For Peace - AMOK
Madlib - Shades of Blue
John Frusciante - To record only water for ten days
Frusciante - Curtains
My Morning Jacket - z
Queens of the Stone Age s/t (lot of raw guitar riffs)

Modest mouse (lonesome crowded west, this is a long drive and building nothing out of something)
Broken social scene (you forgot it in people, self titled)
Derhunter (microcastle, weird era cont. - you'll find both on one release for no more than 20 bucks and they're fantastic)
Mount Eerie (ocean roar, wind's poem)
>>
>>61523121
heard the crystal castles, atoms for peace, and qotsa. will look for the rest.

Uhhh so for some reason I received a second copy of Giles Corey today. I have no record of a second purchase to The Flenser so I guess it's some kind of clerical error.

So... Anyone want a green pressing of Giles Corey?
>>
>>61522088
good but not great. Don't buy into the hype.
>>
Christmas acquisitions that would otherwise be too expensive to justify buying
>>
>>61523881
what do you want in exchange for it?
>>
>>61524079
Not really sure. Honestly I'm not even certain what it's worth. Discogs has some people selling it for like 90-100 bucks but that seems high
>>
>>61524178
i'd be willing to figure something out.
probably not 90-100 bucks, but definitely interested.

Two questions:

Does anyone else here frequently shop at the Princeton Record Exchange?

Has anyone who pre-order New Bermuda through Kings Road Merch heard any updates or received their vinyl?

That's an average price for (I assume) a reprint. Especially if it's a 1LP.
>>
>>61524617
i've not paid less than $30 for a record.
maybe my local place isn't so good.

Sounds like it might not be. It's not unusual for records to go above that though if they're special pressings or hard to find. Compare online.

Just picked up these 2 the other day. 9 for IV and 23 for FJM. I didn't like FJM the first time I listened to it earlier this year, but I've come around and am in love with this album now.

Currently spinning To Be Kind.
>>
>>61524744
Fucking why does it always rotate my photos.
>>
>>61524744
Nice. what condition did IV come in?
>>
>>61524782
It's okay. Has the original inner sleeve, and only has a few sections with noticeable wear.

It's a 1971 pressing though so that's not bad at all considering.

got mine from amazon for like 25 bucks. Pretty good for a 3 LP if you ask me

>>61524825
It's 28 bucks on Amazon, which is pretty average for a 3xLP. How much are you seeing it for?

the fuck

I've been looking and only seen it for $70+

I might just be retarded
>>
>>61524943
Yeah I was pretty happy when I found it. Someone hid it behind a display copy of the Kill Bill vol. 2 Soundtrack, but they were no match for me.

>>61524944
Get on that Amazon shit if your local store doesn't have it for a reasonable price. You could show them the amazon price and be like "dude, cmon" but that doesn't usually work.
>>
>>61525034
Never understood the vinyl soundtracks thing. But then again I don't listen to soundtracks or movie scores
>>
>>61525200
Some soundtracks are pretty good, but that being said I own exactly 0.
>>
>>61524884
not a big fan of beach house and the weeknd is kinda shite, but i'd fuck with you as an audiophile.
>>
>>61524744
>23 for FJM
Shit man, should've taken advantage of that eBay exploit a few months back, got my copy for $9
>>
>>61524584
I cancelled my King's Road order for it a while back and bought the purple band exclusive version. It has a textured/glossy cover and it's very pretty. I'd suggest that if your order hasn't shipped yet, although it should have arrived by this point.
>>
>>61525699
Would have been great, but I didn't even know how good this album was a few months ago.
