I'm not the person you've been arguing with, but I would disagree with this. Artistic integrity means sticking true to your own vision, and if that vision differs from what you actually are there's nothing wrong with that. For example, if a band is trying to portray themselves as 'badasses' for the sake of posturing and because they think that music will be popular, then that would in fact be contrived and pretentious. But if they're just making that music because they like the way it sounds and it's what they want to do there's nothing wrong with it.
Take Bowie's Space Oddity for example: David Bowie isn't an astronaut, but that doesn't mean he can't write a song from the perspective of one, especially being inspired by the space race going on at the time. It's not contrived if he's just doing what he wants.
I know a lot of people here think Bowie is full of shit but whatever, you get the point of the example, right?

It could be something as simple as she encountered one person who was impeding her from doing something she wanted and she persevered despite them.
In any case, if you don't like it, don't listen. Some women make shitty aggressive music, some women make good aggressive music. The latter might be more rare nowadays, but you can't deny the possibilities just because it doesn't fit your paradigm.
