Acoustics are rougher on the fingers, especially for beginners. Consider getting an electric if you can afford it, cheap one is fine.
Stretch your forearm muscles, finger muscles, etc, watch this, it helped me and I suffer from tendinitis. Practice chords and scales at slow pace, drill the chords into your brain.
Massage tense muscles. Also practicing for twenty minutes six days in a row is better than practicing for 7 hours one day...practice makes perfect, consistent practice.

play songs use backing tracks follow the high hat(cheat) and learn how to mute while picking. desu you are probably already pretty good though, that's a lot of lessons. Maybe train your ear and try to sing to pitch? being able to match your bass' pitch really helps you play by ear.

Not really, I stopped bothering once I realized it was a wate of time. My Albion TCT35c with a TS9 as a boost and a 2x12 with V30's gives me a great tone that I'm happy with for practice and recording, clean's are pretty good too.
Live meanwhile I use a POD HD500x + Matrix GT 800FX into a Randall 4x12 with V30's and it sounds decent to my ears, not the best tone possible but it's simple to setup for live and I don't wanna move the Albion around as it's fairly fragile.
Neither are my "Dream" tones but hey they both work good enough.

You're oversaturating the vox or the fuzz. What pedal is it? Generally, if I'm gonna run a fuzz pedal into an amp that'll overdrive, I'll:
Keep guitar tone and volume all the way up
Turn the pedal volume way way down
Get the pedal tone knob(s) vaguely where I want them
Get the pedal gain/fuzz/whatever where I want it
Raise the pedal volume until it begins to drive the preamp of the amp
Finalize pedal tone/amp eq whatever
Also, if you want to use amp distortion in addition to pedal distortion, lower both of them.
If you want to do rhythm and lead from the guitar using the volume knob, just lower the guitar volume and dial in a crunch tone using the aforementioned process. Raise the guitar volume to get more distortion.

Laney IRT Studio is a good amp, as long as you're EQ'ing it right should give you a good tone.
Take the Digitech out of the chain though, it will color your tone a fuckload. Try it with guitar straight to amp for a while.
Set the gain about noon on the IRT and then use the boost, pro-tip, never set the boost very high, highest I'd ever go is 11 o'clock with it.
Also is it an Ironheart cab? They aren't good cabs if so, if you were looking at something to upgrade I'd say flip it and buy something else. The Ironhearts work best with V30's

The IRT cabs have Laneys own drivers in there, they're pretty below average and funnily enough don't sound allthat great with the amps they were designed to go with. A cab with celestions would serve much better.

TTs only have two gain stages. They shoot a ton of dirt, but it won't be tight or metallic.
Look at Egnater Tweakers. There's a dirt switch to pull in extra gain stages and two independent channels. Also a bunch of other really notable tonal options on board that I haven't seen in anything under high end equipment.
That's my best shot for getting close to Supro then Mesa/Orange in one economic amp.

If it has Celestions they almost certainly aren't V30s. If it's a 160w and not using the Laney speakers (inb4 it is), it's probably got something like Celestion G12P-80 speakers--which would still sound like crap next to V30s in this application.

Speaking of the pedal discussion, I have a question for any gearheads who are into effects. I want to run an ibanez limiter pedal with a boss dd2 but it seems to make the hearable effect of the dd2 much less noticable. I just want to eliminate spikes in volume but this thing just dulls the sound of the effect. I tried a different order to no avail. I also tried using my tube screamer to maybe give it some more gain but I know fuck all about how to order pedals.

Cabs make a little difference, but that are only so many things you can do with a box. If the cab has a good speaker, you're in at this point.
The idea of a head is it can be paired with different cabs. So you might travel with just the head to band stuff and take it back home for practice.
Some amps sound good at lower volumes and full on.
AC15s are the best value for a lot of things, but they're a little thin for what you're trying to do imo.

Speakers make a whole lot of the difference, the build makes a huge difference too.
In your case I'd go with a good 1x12 with a Celestion V30, used Orange or Hughes & Kettners come pretty cheap. Really I'd just get a 2x12 as if you ever joined a band you could use that easily and wouldn't have to drop more money on another cab PLUS have a 1x12 that has worse resale value.
Peavey 6505+ would be ok (I think the regular 6505 is much better in how the gain channels sound). But yeah they need to be cranked to get a good sound.
Can look into used Marshall JCM 2000's (Avoid any of the modern Marshall DSL's, terrible amps), used Peavey Valvekings (newer models are much better).

Fair enough, it's pretty hard to fuck up with that though, you just have to match the ohms and you're aight.
But yeah a Valveking will serve you well if you can afford one, combo versions aren't too bad. Head + cab setup is just a good way to go if you'll be jamming with other muso's someday too in a band environment, although most combo's will do it alright.

Then, I got a TC polytune in black and a little buffer box that was black too, completely withouth noticing it. Then a promotion on EHX stuff on a store, I bought a Good Vibes and The Silencer noise gate.
And that's when it clicked.

The HD500x is an integral part to the Variax setup as it controls all the amps/FX/etc. You can also use a HD500 but it has less DSP to it so can't use as many FX or dual amps/stereo amps as effectively
It already comes with a bunch of models (modelled on real -life amps like Fender twins/Bogners/Mesas/etc) on it (you can buy a couple more if you wish, the Vox Ac30 is pretty fucking good.), but you can download other peoples patches they make with their instruments to save you having to set up your own amps + FX Chain. It's a great way to get to know the system.
Personally I think it's decent, it's definitely no Axe-Fx in terms of sound quality or flexibility but it's a fraction of the price and has mostly the same fuctions, it can be weird to dial in like most Line 6 products but there are a lot of guides out there. With the last major update they did last year it improved the system a lot.

I play bass and banjo. Started from classical training in piano, learned jazz, learned tab for basic rock/rhcp crap, learned more complicated tab, developed a good ear, can now play most things, mainly mad funky beats.
Now, I just figure out the main licks and notes, progressions, and general song structure the first couple listen throughs, then identify the unique variations of licks and fills, then nail down the rhythm. This is also how I transcribe stuff by hand. For more complicated stuff like 120+ bpm banjo solos, I slow them down by 70% and work it out note by note.

Classicalfag at uni here.
Generally I don't practice for more than 30-45 minutes at a time and do 3-5 sessions a day sometimes more, sometimes less - no point forcing it if it's not happening that day.
First session is usually (certainly if technique exam is looming) start with technical work as a warm up and to get fingers moving: scales and arpeggios with different fingering patterns and studies.
Next 2 or 3 sessions are working on current repertoire. What I do depends on where the pieces are at - run-throughs and finessing for pieces ready for performance, slow detailed work on newer pieces - working out fingerings and interpretation.
Any further time is spent practicing chamber parts individually and reading through potential new repertoire, or more practice on repertoire if a performance or assessment is near.
Practice is most effective if it is deliberate and concentrated, otherwise it is just mindless repetition.
Practice away form distractions: TV, PCs and phones - this way you can achieve as much in your 2 hours as in 5-6 hours of bashing away.
Remember: Practice doesn't make perfect - Practice makes permanent.
Make sure what you are doing is correct, no matter the speed, otherwise you are merely reinforcing the error.
