Fuck off poly.

not poly, I don't think poly listens to much stockhausen. also, he would've posted Martinů and probably some spectral composers.

Can anyone reccomend any contemporary classical to a pleb? Preferably like solo piano or very small arrangements. More experimental or avant garde stuff welcome as well. I've really been digging rivers and streams by lubomyr melnyk as of late

I've been wondering what piano conerti does /classical/ consider good? I've only heard Mozart's and Beethoven's concerti (really loved Mozart's) so far and I wanted to broaden my horizons.
>>
>>61474012
Schoenberg's
Bartók's
Chopin's
Schumann's
Liszt's
Ravel's
Prokofiev's

BACH. perfect for understanding the fractal beauty of the universe.
>>61474989
you think takemitsu is not good?
>>61475128
obviously, he's one of the best composers, but he's usually thought of more in the 19th century.
>>
>>61475169
This
/goldenage of music
>>
>>61475255
He died young. His prime was right around the start of the 20th, with him conducting like crazy, and composing most of his music. His music is definately not representative of the 19th century. His music gained great popularity in the late 20th century, his music is of the 20th.

>Stockhausen
WHAT STOCKHAUSEN DID FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC:
- Wrote banal chamber pieces featuring electronic instruments vaguely exploring acoustic space
- Did some really crappy generative pieces
- Made a slightly more scientific version of Messiaen's shit.

PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY MATTERED:
>Pierre Schaeffer
The grandfather of electronic music. Pioneered the current dominant thought of thinking of sound objects (Treatise on Musical Objects)
>John Chowning
FM SYNTHESIS.
>Miller Puckette
Created extremely user friendly and commercially viable software.
>Jean-Claude Risset
Waveshaping, FM, invaluable in terms of psychoacoustic research.
>Iannis Xenakis
GRANULAR SYNTHESIS, wrote proper, scientific process pieces.
>Lasse Thoresen
Codified Schaeffers thought into an easily communicateable system for education and realization of electro-acoustic scores.
>Denis Smalley
Early digital synthesis, elaborated on Schaeffer.
>Michel Gerzon
Ambisonics.
>>
>>61474012
>>61474309 this and Rautavaara, Mozart, Tveitt, Martinu and Yoshimatsu.
>>
>>61475491
you forgot luc ferrari. Stockhausen did a lot of shit with what relatively limited resources there were for electronic music at that time. karlheinz did a bunch of shit with synths and he worked with multi-channel setups in his later pieces.

>ambisonics
literally what

What's wrong with Takemitsu?

He's objectively worse than Akutagawa and Yoshimatsu

I have listened to it. I've even posted it here before.

Akutagawa is more like Shostakovitch while Takemitsu is more like Messiaen. Takemitsu's music is not really as immediately accessible as Shostakovich or Akutagawa, but that doesn't mean it is worse. I suggest you read his scores sometimes, as there are a lot of intricate details.

from his wiki:

Ugh, not even Schoenberg likes Schoenberg.

I don't care who he was influenced by, Shostakovich is fucking garbage. That would be like comparing Ravel to Satie.

Also the Prokofiev influence is the strongest in my opinion.
