Can someone tell me more about James Ferraro(what is he like in real life, what is he doing for living etc.)because i found him to be a very fascinating person and cant get enough of his music.
>>61459739
Nice guy there's like a 30 minute video on vimeo where he drives around LA. trying to get a feel of the OJ Chase which inspired his recent album skid row
Apparently he's a major cokehead which got him into trouble with some labels that payed him for albums he never released. and in a redbull lecture that got deleted,, he uses the word "LIKE" every sentence
>>61459802
>Nice guy there's like a 30 minute video on vimeo where he drives around LA. trying to get a feel of the OJ Chase which inspired his recent album skid row
What made you think i didn't watch it.
>Apparently he's a major cokehead which got him into trouble with some labels that payed him for albums he never released
Interesting!I've only read that he used to scam peoples with cassettes early in his career because he was broke and later made some free shows as compensation.
>and in a redbull lecture that got deleted,, he uses the word "LIKE" every sentence
seen it too
>>61459902
I'd love a link to that RB lecture if its out there
>>61460033

its not deleted like the other anon said
Anyone have any info on what James Ferraro's body looks like? It's really difficult to tell from photos, as they hardly ever show his whole body and he doesn't seem to wear much form fitting clothes. Thanks in advance
>>61459802
>Apparently he's a major cokehead
That's sort of interesting. A lot of his aesthetic reminds me of philip k dick, so I always assumed that he did amphetamines, or some kind of stimulant, consistently.
>>61460306
…these question are not getting creepy at all.
>>61460402
this guy asks the same question in every jf thread even through it has been answered
>>61460068

NEW SKATERS ALBUM WHEN
>>61460789
He tweeted about releasing a skaters album in 2014 but probably something bad happened but clark and jf are releasing stuff anyway.
>>61460925
Idk,Ferraro tweets about working on things that never come out/come out way later than he says they will all the time. This summer he said he was going to do a solo tour and never did it/he said he was working on music with dean blunt after the Watch the Throne stuff and there's no news on that, ect
>>61461091
i feel like dean would hate james. i mean they both make music about similar concepts-- popular culture, being black, technology, social media, and ways in which people interact with the past and future--- but dean seems to suffer no fools while james seems like a goofball Xd spork type of guy.
He needs to make more vaporwave. I don't want that genres aesthetic to die
>>61461413
why? you listen to music because it sounds good not because you like to think deeply about concepts dont you?
>>61461447
Music stimulates aesthetic imagery in your head
>>61461364
dean is hack anyway
>>61461364
From interviews that I've listened to/read of Dean he seems fairly goofy himself.

New Triad God when?
So pay la was better than anything on nxb
dont derail the thread please
>>61461703
he is really interesting too and i would like to know more about him but the freestyle video made me cringe
>>61461364
You're forgetting the fact that Ferraro has done two collaborations with Dean already
>>61460306
Hey you're back.
which version of james do you guys like the best, lo-fi or hi-fi?
i've recently been really getting into his lo-fi work, ive really been enjoying alien microwave by lamborghini crystal and nightdolls with hairspray. I also think his albums like "Nirvana" and "the wooden cupboard" are very interesting. I enjoy the concept of it sounding like you are a in a jungle. I have taken acid many times listening to those albums and let me say it is an experience
>>61461364
no dean is a troll. but his solo work is making people take him more serious by baiting people with topics that are "offensive" and making music that's just so plain simple makes u wonder what his motive is.
Pretty sure he is an atheist and is gay.

forgot the link the poetry dean wrote that is the source of my claims
>>61463041
LO-FI
his HI-FI stuff is okay but I feel like opn and dean blunt do that shit better

was 17mins im such a goof :)
I know that James used to go out with, Labanna babalon for a while.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yono63vqHYQ
He also ghost produced an album for her
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0QlRo-eWPg
I'm sort of surprised that they went out though, since she seems passively racist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UrvnwXgiQE&t=3m40s
>>61464214
nah james is like will smith. where he's light enough to be mistaken for many races.
>>61464214
damn that bitch is crazy

Every time...
>LAX>DFW
>guy comes on reeking of pot
>sits in row in front of me
>young girl says to guy next to him
>"damn i wish i had your seat"
guy assume she is friends with the guy and their seats were split up
>"oh, we can switch seats"
>girl freaks
>J says "what the fuck ever"
>puts on HUGE ear phones
>pulls hoodie over head
>they don't talk entire flight
>he just falls asleep
>plane lands
>J gets up
>clearly fucked up
>moving slow as fuck
>all tangled in ridiculous huge ear cans cord
>people complaining
>I'm literally behind him in aisle
>push him out of the way
>he falls back into the seat
>he says
>"what the fuck"
at this point i realized he is James Ferraro
>holyfuck.avi
>actually chuckled a little
>"first time in coach, huh?"
>he tries to get back up but cant
>too fucked up
>i walk off the plane
>others storm past him
i kinda feel like an asshole because it seemed he really didn't understand plane exiting culture, but he was holding up the plane from row 8 and back.
>>61459739
i tried taking a photo of him when he was in the audience at a show once, but he got scared by the camera's flash and put a hand over it. he then told me he'll take a photo later, but i went home.

>>61464019
I don't know if this is actually James Ferraro
but I found this somewhere and it said it was him.
If it is him I wonder why he has the flag of Finland.
>>61464949
Its obviously him but i have no idea why he has it.
Why does he have such large nostrils?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw9AqFWaA5U
guy used to do a lot of scams back in the day, like claiming limited runs of tapes then overproducing, taking money for records that never got made... however his music is dope af. came to my city with Daniel Lopatin last month and tried to help some underage kids get into his show; nice dude!
>>61465524
>tried to help some underage kids get into his show
that was marcel trying to get into the show

his hifi music is too tryhard fgaggy for me
>>61464949
I guess he probably travelled around Europe at some point. I know he was living in Leeds in the UK a few years ago.
>jayden smith does musick
is there a james ferraro flowchart anywhere?
>>61464214
damn she seems p annoying
>>61459739
Please rec me a James Ferraro album to start with, I've already heard Far Side Virtual but it sounded pretty shit to me. However I know he has stuff outside of that sound, and I really like OPN and Dean Blunt so there must be something by him that'd I'd enjoy.
>>61468617
try marble surf
>>61468381
yes
>>61468731
Cool, I'll give it a shot. Also what is his most recent album, Skidrow, like? I see it praised quite a bit on here
>>61468808
it's way different than his lo-fi stuff (i.e. marble surf), much more hi-fi and pop/R&B oriented. kinda like an anti-Drake.
>>61468731
This is good, but it's a bit too ambient for my taste. Is there anything with conventional or pop songwriting? I should have mentioned that while I really like OPN and Dean Blunt I prefer both of them when they are a bit more conventional, and not as noisy/drone/ambient
>>61468859
Didn't notice this post, will check out Skidrow. That sounds more my speed.
>>61464214
so he helped her with a couple of tracks or he wrote the whole album for her? because the former is "ghost" producing and the latter is simply just producing.
>>61459902
>seen
you mean heard? theres no video lecture is there? are you guys referring to the fireside chat
>>61469091
Ghost producing means that he produced it and did not want to be credited for it, not that he produced a couple songs. It just means his work is on the album but not his name, or it is credited to a fake name. And I don't know if he produced the whole album or just a few tracks, but I assumed he did the whole thing.
>>61469091
"Ghost" produced as in he made an album and gave it to her and it was released under her name. From what I've heard he made the whole thing.
>>61469127
yeah i meant heard but there is also kind of a lecture with jf and lopatin
>>61468808
skidrow is like making a movie but in it's production stage in music form
>>61469793
> kind of a lecture with jf and lopatin
what do you mean as in "kind of" ive seen the lopatin one, have never seen a ferraro/lopatin video one
>>61470248
not the same person but this
https://www.flickr.com/photos/jaakk/6808356695
he probably meant 'kind of', because no full length version of it seems to be available anywhere

i dont get his music
>>61468897
I'd say NYC, HELL 3:00AM, COLD Skid Row are his most poppy records
>>61459739
>what is he like in real life
Aloof. Really strung out / high depending on when you meet him.
>what is he doing for living
Escort.
Though he's to sign a deal with Rough Trade soon.
