Hey guys, so I was hoping I could get some recommendations for some artists/albums to check out based on some of my preferences. I haven't really been following music as closely as I used to for the past 5 or 6 years, so I'm hoping to find some artists and bands I'd enjoy discovering who would fall under some specific genres.

I really enjoy folk, folk rock, old country, country &western, bluegrass, etc.
Some of my favorite artists include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, My Morning Jacket, NMH, Fleet Foxes, Avett Brothers, Trampled by Turtles

Anyways I'd really love some suggestions based on some of those styles, preferably some newer stuff, maybe from the last 10 years or so, but any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

We have some really similar tastes when it comes to older music, check out my rym profile.

I really, really recommend Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Blaze Foley for you. Townes was the guy who turned Dylan down for a songwriting partnership, if that means anything to you. Clark and Foley were two of his best friends.

Also, check out Dust-to-Digital, the label. Not modern by any means but one of the best old-time labels out there.

so you love upperclass white males capitalizing off of the music of poor 19th and early 20th century americans?

kill yourself.

listen to msuci made by real folk not white boys with easy lives appropriating and romantacizing the lives of people in poverty,

Well, seems like you really like Folk and Country.

I recommend Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks," Joanna Newsom's "Ys" and 16 Horsepowers' "Sackcloth 'n' Ashes."
