He doesn't bring anything to the table I haven't heard before. I admit that my meme post was a bit harsh and just a hyperbole of my opinion. Of course he is a talented rapper (Logic and Mac Miller too) but there's something missing. I can't make out a distinct personality and I can't connect with the lyrics enough to justify their averageness. I guess in a time where there's so much experimentation going on in Hip Hop, just being a decent rapper doesn't cut it anymore. For me at least.
>>
How about some actual reasons why you guys don't like these people instead of just saying you don't like them

eyedea was GOAT.

>>
>>61443136
oh and as for earl, j cole and logic it's no ty
>>
>>61444419
The first few tracks are little less accessible I feel like.

I used to feel the same way about WMWTSO and it was always the album I would tell people to listen to but then I realized that Faces was a better transition from traditional hip-hop to more experimental kinda stuff plus the lyrics are better.
>>
>>61444240
>>61444241
Ok, I feel like I already did enough to warrant my opinion. I listened to that Mac Miller album with the movies when it came out and it didn't give me much, like I said before. I thought Faces was his most interesting project, but it didn't resonate with me enough that it had me come back to it.

He raps with a purpose and its bigger than music his music has impact like 2 pacs did this guys music is very influential his song "alright" became an anthem for black lives matter his music has brought people out of depression and suicide and that's not to mention his arsenal of different flows his word play, wit, and 10/10 storyteller
>>
>>61444612
Kendrick is the best so deal with it unless you can explain how he's not
>>
>>61444534 (You)
When you're listening to Kendrick, just remember that they're not like other rappers. His music is incredibly artistic, almost to the point where you have to be paying complete attention to them to even remotely understand them. I remember listening to a song on To Pimp a Butterfly (though I can't remember what it was), where I thought a song was absolute bollocks during the listen. Then, I closed my eyes for a second, and all of a sudden the song had an entirely new meaning. It was insane the way Kendrick could just become something so different when you take a look into the music.

Another thing you should note about Kendrick is that it's easy to get a headache listening him. Not because he's a bad rapper, but because of how many ideas his music is riddled with and how complex they are. Soon enough your head will fill to the brim and the rest will just sound like noise to you. Just turn it off and give it a listen the next day.

If you don't like the music, you'll definitely at least enjoy reading through the lyrics, and picking apart the song itself and all of the artistic values that go into making it the complexity that it is.>>61444580

>>61443241

White Guilt: The Album

*tips white guilt*
>>
my personal top 10 right now.

1. Kendrick Lamar - Simply more musically ambitious than his contemporaries. Great performance from all features. TPAB has a message that needed to be said especially
2. Lil Ugly Mane - Highly experimental hip hop, but beautifully produced. A highly nuanced approach to lo-fi sounds.
3. MC Ride - Trademark aggressive, brutally honest and sometimes highly introspective and personal (ex: On GP)
4. Earl Sweatshirt - Earl has always been a lyricist virtuoso since his teens. His rapping is fantasic on his last album, but was really pisspoor on his last album. Not all musicians are producers!!
5. Travis Scott - He's hip-hop's Andy Worhol. Elevating this ATL trap sound to a more artistic level.
6. Injury Reserve - Well produced and very unique, experimental approach to jazz rap.
7. Czarface - Great rapping throughout the album. You get invested in the story with more listens. Great study rap.
8. Nickelus F - Amazing production but felt the rapping isn't on par.
9. Vince Staples - Summertime 06 was a solid album. My biggest grip was the run time. Too long, but ambitious for a debut album
10. Lupe Fiasco - Talented rapper but personally I feel Lupe's music could be so much better if he got to the point sometimes and not come across so preachy.

You and all the other Mac fan boys are the only ones that would say that Macs Projects were better. Kendricks 1st project was story telling with a message his 2nd had purpose, a message, and it needed to be said and is very impactful you can't say that about mac
>>
>>61445319
please don't mention J Cole and Jonathan Mathis is the same sentence it's insulting to artists everywhere

Mac Miller pioneered acid hip hop Kendrick did not. Kendrick is amazing but no where near macs level.

Not fact at all actually.
>>
>>61445455
Actually on a much higher level than he's saying it. Go read a book from any black author and they're making a bigger "impact" than Kendrick Llama will ever make.

>KENDRICK IS THE SMARTEST OF A BUNCH OF RETARDS SO HE'S THE BEST

Pray tell, what complex ideas does this rapper discuss?

1.Kendrick Lamar

4.ASAP Rocky (Popularised a slower style of rapping with twisty word rolls to simulate complexity)
5.Vince Staples

Mac is the greatest and Macadelic is deeper and more psychedelic than acid rap. Fact.

delusional thomas is really good. I actually enjoy the pitched up voice
>>
>>61445515
Ok well I'm pretty sure we can all agree this is fact, only due to the way he delivers theme and the fact that he's self mixed and produced which idk if any other rappers do, his track record isn't long enough to say but just Angry Kid alone shows a lot of promise of what's to come.

All of them.

Earl has a strong mf doom influence to his lyrics so if you like that style where the artist puts himself in strange situations you're probably going to like him more

Why is J Cole so revered?

J Cole does absolutely nothing special whatsoever. He is one of the only rappers that I am confused how they rose to fame. Literally every single rapper I know of that has risen to fame, had some reason for it. Whether they were amazing lyricists, or cheap hacks that spit some shitty bars over amazing beats. But Cole literally is one of the most average rappers the world has ever known. Literally Logic, MC Ride, Mac Miller, Pusha T, Tyler the Creator, fuck even JAY ROCK bring SOMETHING to the table but Cole does NOTHING.
>>
>>61445739
Tell me how his raps aren't more complex than any other rapper give an actual example of his music
>>
>>61445680
>>61445740
Earl has a very similar style to Jonathan idk that he's not better but Jonathan does do a lot more than earl does. Angry Kid was 90 minutes worth of conceptual masterpiece vs IDLS which was 20 minutes of lyrically shallow depression-core. It was good I'm not saying it's not but is it really in the same level as AK? All hype aside of course.
>>
>>61445746

>implying that hasnt been the mainstream for 30 years and in every era there's been great rappers talking about real issues underneath all that

he's not special

all the kendrick dickriding is literally making me hate him and i think hes a great rapper just not the second coming of jesus and tupac that these fucking white kids think he is
>>
>>61445758
8.5/10 lyricism
9/10 story teller
8/10 wordplay
This is what makes Cole good
>>
>>61445781
He's the smartest man in Retarded Jeopardy. Big deal.
>>
1)kitty pryde
1)azealia banks
3)Meechy Darko
4)Billy Woods
5)Danny Brown or Earl
6)Lil Ugly Mane

are the current best rappers everyone else is irrelevant.

not gonna make a top all time list cause that's boring
>>
>>61445746
He's changing the music scene back to what it should be I don't know why that's so hard to understand the rap game has become so fucking superficial that kicking it back to being about issues in the real world is risky and only a good mc can make tracks that go against the grain so much and come out one of the most revered rappers of the time the game is polluted with money whores and people who rely on image that's why he's great
>>
>>61445804
It wasn't. Mathis had AOTY can we drop it now?

Kendricks album was better than Jonathans it had a larger impact.

1.Freddie Gibbs
2.Pusha T
3.Kendrick Lamar

5.Joey Bada$$

J Cole is so incredibly boring and predictable 90% of the time

I'll 2nd that

While I'm not denying that it goes deeper, there /is/ data that shows the high prevalence of black crime. This not fucking whitey's fault.
>>
>>61445984
Fuck no. Kendrick had a larger impact bc Jonathan Mathis isn't signed, has one album, and only /mu/ knows about it. TPAB was NOT better than Angry Kid in the slightest fuck outta here.

Sometimes you guys are fucking ridiculous. How contrarian you got to be to say Cole is bad lmao.

Also. Vince got mad lyrics, great voice but most of his beats are shite. Also, he doesn't say shit on S06, he just says he was from the norf side beach and a crip, and that shit was heavy, but he doesnt really tell anything.. He's got great potential but right now he's not that good

>no mention to Isaiah
>no mention to Mick
>>
>>61447212
he mixes and masters his own stuff I don't think he's willing to partner with a producer. if we help him out in these sort of discussions maybe he'll build a fa base and build his own studio like Hopsin did. production wise that isn't his bat song though it's gotta be D.I.Lated.
