best cheap synth
That's not the Roland JD-Xi or the Alesis Micron

the microkorg is absolute garbagio.
however if you're trying to be the memesynth owner of the year, get yourself the microkorg.

arturia microbrute

I got a DX7 for like 200 bucks off ebay.
It works great.
Haven't yet tried making my own patches or anything. Just noodling around on the e-piano.

Pretty nice, but JD-Xi does quite a lot more and would work a bit nicer for a beginner synth.
1 analog engine, 2 digital, + a drum machine.

not even worth going analog if you can only afford something as cheap as a microbrute senpai
best to get a decent analog-modeling digital synth with patch memory and polyphony to cover more bases if you're that strapped for cash

boy are you in for a fucking ride when you decide to dive into fm patch creation, especially since that's a 6-op fm synth rather than a more simplistic 2 or 4-op fm synth.
Almost bought one a couple years ago but ended up buying a shit m-audio midi for $75 that broke at the exact 6 month point. I'm happy I went the midi route.

yeah honestly just buy an older Yamaha or Roland for a few hundred dollars
or be smart and try to thrift shop, I got some weird Yamaha synth similar to a DX7 for like $40
thoughts on this
pocket operators are cheap as fuck and fun to play with
but ultimately they aren't super useful
but still fun
Just picked up an Alpha Juno 1, fuck I love it. Cheapest synth I own is the FB-01.

nonono

specifically the new one with mellotron voices

Holy shit dude, pretty much same here.
does this count
>2015+1
>not using a midi controller
