>Harsh Noise (not ear rape)
Here's my new album. I'm splitting it up into two 7 track parts because I just got a mixer/pedal/contact mic so I'm gonna be trying to make Part 2 more interesting. The albums used samples from the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, Metropolis and I manipulated them throughout each track. The 2nd part for the album won't have as much DAW use to make the noise.

Currently listening to Phase1.0, enjoying it. Not sure if I have any critique to give you though without having listened to the whole album yet. Definitely download worthy though, followed you on Soundcloud, keep making tunes either way dude.
>>61423690
thank you, i'll give your stuff a listen in just a bit.

The mixing could be a little better. I'm not a fan of the vocals, but I understand what you're going for. It goes well with the music. I do like when he screams in "Damn, that Dog Just Saved the Universe." Guitar tones are nice. Very clean and bright. The effects also give the pieces nice levels of atmosphere.
>>61423423
excellent soundscapes in the first track, beginphase1.0
i'm not a good critic for this kind of music. but i do think it's artistic of you to incorporate odd sounds into a soundscape. my favourite was tiny●metallic●figures (phase1.0 mix). it started off with this rattling. and it just caught my attention. your music is soothing. but i feel like you could do better.

reminds me of syd barrett's insanity.
the mixing is kind of muddy, but i feel like that is part of the genre. the drums are mediocre. i feel like they could have enhanced the tune if it included more setups/fills. think about everything when you make a track. that's something i forge to do. pretend all your tracks are people. imagine how they would interact and react to certain parts of the song. and how they could each contribute to the mix as a band.
>>61423687
another odd one... haha. what is it with everyone trying to make odd music. i don't think this of you, but sometimes i get the impression that people are trying to prove something when they make these kinds of drone tone sounds. it reminds me dadaism. the artistic anarchy of the 19th century. everyone wants to avant-garde. i don't understand why.
it must be artistically fulfilling somehow. i am not criticising now. i just wonder what goes through your mind when you create this music. how does one's creative process go about for making these tracks...
>>61423690
i listened to "burn me alive", and i thought it was good.
i like the guitar melodies but your vocal performance is a bit flawed. it's kinda monotone, it's off key at times, and there are kind of weird moments where it sounds really nasally (ex: 5:58 - 6:05). with that said, there are moments where your voice does sound really good, but it still needs a little bit of work.
>>61423884
thank you so much, I was literally listening to Pink Floyd when I read this so that made me happy :)
Hopefully we'll be playing with a local drummer soon which will help give our music some life
>>61423822
thank you, what's your bandcamp so i can return the favor?
>>61424072
That's a fair point man, I'll definitely take that into consideration and try and work on my vocals. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it, going back to your album, I've listened to it all now, I really like Hammerhead Willow, the strange rhythms blend really well and I like how it fades through them and into each other. I think that, Tiny Metallic Figures, and Beginphase1.0 were the strongest tracks in my opinion. The others were nice, but they didn't really grab my attention at all, in the way that I couldn't really remember what they sounded like after they stopped playing. I'm not sure if that's helpful, but just what I was thinking. is all.
Oh also, don't have a Bandcamp page set up right now, but here's my Soundcloud if anyone would like to listen and give feedback. Would be much appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/quiet-kid/
The tracks are sort of just one session recordings and WIP stuff I guess.

RAW EP - pieces of rawdata spliced together to make a complete track
Comp. Track - Hoarded data I've collected over the months on a .txt file, renamed it into a .exe file. Sounds a bit simple, most work was in the collection itself and the mixing

Really like the beat you've got going on in Brand the Animals and the somewhat dischordant nature of the synth that comes in. Personally didn't really like the texture of the third synth that comes in, just felt like that really cheesy sort of synth tone that's on every keyboard. I like the melody of it though, and altogether I enjoyed the music, a cool album so far in, pretty interesting. Although I'm just on track 3.

>i just wonder what goes through your mind when you create this music
Nothing really? I'm not trying to impress anybody with it. I enjoy making it, and some people like it, some people don't.
>how does one's creative process go about for making these tracks
I just try to find different ways to manipulate existing sounds or to generate them. on this release I mostly worked with ableton, but I have a mixer now so I'm trying to do more stuff on that.
>>61424569
yea, some of these synths are in fact saxophones with weird filters on them, like the one that lasts for most of it, but for the last one, it indeed is kind of a bland random synth.

Still want some opinions on this, if anyone's open for reviewing.
Working on my second album ATM; it's probably going to be a similar genre but perhaps a bit more electro.
