Nah man. It has its own charm. Something of a relic to show where MBV was going when they reached Loveless. Glider and Tremelo also do this albeit more notably than You Made Me Realise. I like it enough to realise anyway.

Shoegaze is a pretty small genre. We're bound to run out of things to discuss at this rate.

Loveless wasn't very good compared to Isn't Anything. I also find that their EPs, especially Strawberry Wine, are incredibly gorgeous. Then again, they're a bit more accessible and immediate than Loveless. There's something about songs like Never Say Goodbye and Lose My Breath that sound so much better than most of the songs on Loveless.
>>
>>61424089
I just can't get into Isn't Anything. Kevin's voice sounds sluggish and awkward, and the drums sound so mechanical, even though some of the drums on loveless were actually programmed.

>>61415347
Why is it that most shoegaze I come across only works well when combined with other genres, never on its own? Standard shoegaze from what I've heard has been either rather mundane or boring. But when combined with say, black metal, post-rock, or sludge metal, it sounds absolutely fantastic. Why's that? And are there any albums that can prove me wrong?
>>
>>61426516
I'd say it's cause shoegaze adds power and atmosphere to any guitar-based music. Regular shoegaze is just indie rock with guitar effects anyway, so it's not like shoegaze mixed with nothing else on its own particularly varied, especially if they're not paying close enough attention to texture.

The only gaze bands I've seen were APTBS and LSD & the Search for God. They were both phenomenal.

Actually Creepoid opened for APTBS and King Woman opened for both. Also LED was actually opening for True Widow.

Favorite performance for me though was LSD. It was like being cleansed with sonic holy water.

They're pretty much like any other rock show i guess. They're very loud. APTBS in particular like to throw their instruments at each other and go into extensive noise sections. Shoegaze qts are definitely real but they're also lesbians.

Damn...

Also doesn't the vocal harmonies and several subtle melodies get lost in a live setting with it being so loud? Just wondering if you ever feel at least in some songs that the dreamy ethereal vibe of a song gets cut down a ton in comparison to the recorded version. I'm sorry if i sound stupid btw, im legitimately curious.

Curve was Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday with a revolving supporting live band. SPC ECO is Dean Garcia and his daughter Rose Berlin. He's a very underrated bass player. the hard part about the What.CD interview is waiting for half a day on IRC and making sure you don't actually miss your interview, the interview itself is pretty easy if you read their prep site.

that being said, there's easier and better methods of acquiring music, and none of those involve private trackers.
