my friends run a night and get a space for free as they don't take any of the bar money, and they also use another venue that you have to rent because it's much more kitted out
my friends take all the door/ticket money which pays for the artist/equipment and the riders and anything else included so unless you bump up your ticket prices or let people in past capacity there's not lots to make a lot of the time
promotors should ideally aim to make their "residents" nights successful where there are no big bookings and all the door money is their's to keep, however that's usually done by booking big names and establishing your night
