Long story short, /bleep/ was created as an outlet to have a place to discuss electronic sub-genres on /mu/ since the rest of the board didn't know anything about them. It was also created to try and amalgamate whatever decent electronic music discussion threads (namely /bass/ and it's imitators) into one thread so it would be easier to talk about things. It's obvious from the threads that the music is primarily that which is/was popular in clubs but not EDM since no one here likes that enough to actively discuss it.
Over time it's devolved into the meme general with US vs UK/Euro shitposting and namefag shitposting. People say you shouldn't spoonfeed but it's not like there's any music discussion left in these threads any more on the whole.

I really hope so, I think that the reason of Mumdance's movement ran out of steam (see tepid reception to Proto, empty dancefloors at Different Circles) is because they tried to hard to define a 'weightless' sound, rather than letting it carve out naturally. It comes off as a bit artificial, and people end up rejecting it. I see the Grey Area stuff from Samurai having a similar fate if they're not careful.
