If it's the way they mixed it and released it, it's how they wanted it to sound. Who am I to tell them that they created their art wrong?
If youre not using flat what the FUCK are you doing on a music forum. Clueless retards.
>>61368933
Unfortunately a great band can sound like shit if they are shit at production or can't afford a decent producer. Elder scrolls is better with mods, some bands are better with some post imo.

>Unfortunately a great band can sound like shit if they are shit at production or can't afford a decent producer
A shit band would release product they are not comfortable with. You need to accept that what you hear on record is what the artist wanted.
>>61369071
>You need to accept that what you hear on record is what the artist wanted.
That's far from the truth

>>61369143
So just because they don't have a backbone and can't tell their friend he's terrible at his job they're forced to release an album?
>>61369168
If you were trying to sell records at a show would you
>A: Sell the record that you and your bandmates put a bunch of money into
>B: have nothing to sell at all
I'd choose A. Maybe we'd become known enough to pay a decent producer next record.

Can you please link me to some music that you call 'spiritualised' as I don't know what the fuck that means.

You've already made a fool out of yourself, newfag. Please go.
normaliser for quiet music like mark hollis and eq slider never above 0 db line and move the preamp up
I use the first one. It's configured for my Dunu Tridents.
>>61370027
ye soz mate theyre a band.
use a lot of bass in their songs
and there is spiritual music - like spiritual jazz or gospel
...but they don't include a lot of sub bass
see a /mu/core chart for more essential artists bud
>>61370178
Awww sheeeeit I didn't realise that not knowing a particular rock band from 25 years ago means that I can't inquire about a particular rock band from 25 years ago and expand my knowledge. I'll go back to my echo chamber, cheers.
>>61370272
Thanks man, I thought it was some subgenre I never heard of. Currently discovering.

>>61370440
Don't worry about it man, for some people music is like an RPG or something, gotta level up. They're more into the idea of music than the actual thing itself. Check out /lit/ for the exact same phenomenon but with books.
>>61370518
>Got drunk and come to /mu/

Anyway now i know Spiritualized. Result.
>>61369143
>>record sounds like wet farts
why is that a bad thing?
>>61370440
i didnt post that as an insult or test, its a chart of things you should try.
>its what you want to learn.
then listen to those albums you dont know instead of complaining.
everyone knows something from that chart, it includes dark side of the moon for gods sake. but theres plenty you won't know, like spiritualized.
if you want to learn something new, that chart is a good starting place.
>>61370497
if you dont know the basics its hard for anons to recommend you new stuff. its a lot easier for people to rec music if you say 'i like spiritualized', than if you say 'i like 90s rock music'
>>61370518
listening to those chart essentials isn't like filling a check list, it's trying a lot of different types of music so you can then home in on what you like the most. your favourite album might be hidden behind a recommendation after listening to a /mu/core album you've never heard about before.
thats why these charts exist

It's just because my headphones have uncomfortably loud bass.
I listen to:
Progressive metal (Intronaut, Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah, Cloudkicker)
Thrash metal (Byzantine, Sylosis)
Electro house (Feed Me, Porter Robinson, Knife Party)
Drum & bass (Sub Focus, Metrik)
Jazz (Lars Danielsson, Pat Metheny, Snarky Puppy, Toufic Farroukh)
But right now I'm listening to the Punch Brothers.
all maxxed
>>61371295
interesting taste
but didn't know people on this site listened to <5 genres only
A 7 band parametric eq used to make up for the failings of my headphones. This is system wide and stays on as long as I use these headphones.
You're doing it wrong, op
>>61371602
That was a summary. I also like
Dubstep (Ganja White Night, early Zomboy, Vexare, Matta, SPL)
Glitch hop (KOAN Sound, Haywyre)
Trap (Buku, SubtomiK, Lookas, Keys N Krates)
Sludge metal (Brainoil, Kowloon Walled City, Zozobra, Big Mess)
Progressive rock (Klone, Porcupine Tree)
Some Celtic folk, some bluegrass, some PC game soundtracks... Do I need to continue?
>>61371735
What software do you use to determine those failings?
>>61369071
Why do I give a fuck what the artist wanted? I live for me, not for some faggot out there. I will listen to music the way it makes me happy, not the way some twat intended me to.
>>61371776
you dont need my validation or any other anons pal, youre ok without it
>>61368645
I don't mess with EQ settings if they wanted it to sound a certain way that is fine. The only time I do is add a bit more treble for brightness because my headphones aren't great.
>>61371885
Korean headphones review site called goldenears. They take measurements of the headphones with artificial ears. The graphs they post allow you to pick and choose bad headphones from good ones. I suppose I could buy my own ears and create my own target frequency curve but this is much easier.
>it doesn't change for every song
>>61368968
He actually did it, the absolute madman!
you have to reduce the pre-amp or you're just causing distortion and you're reducing sound quality. if you want more bass then buy bassier headphones.
>>61371776
thats not dubstep
