OP here. I still rate out of 5, but I guess no album has had a full sequence of perfect, or even great songs in my opinion. Honestly, I understand that I could probably just rate my favorites as 5/5s because I mean, they're 5/5s relatively speaking.
An album of 10 tracks could have 8 GOAT songs but 2 songs that are just decent. Sure, the album will reach my all-time favorites but it's not perfect if there's two neutral tracks.
I think that my rating system is just a very left-brained, quantified way of scoring. I don't know, I'm relatively new to RYM and I've definitely thought about changing how I score albums.

Because it's an interesting album of math rock that manages to be both original and not wanky. Also I like time signatures.
Pleasantly surprised with The Beat of the Earth, the others were all pretty much exactly what I was expecting (though Airborne Toxic Event was maybe a bit of a letdown).

You're missing out. It's a lot better than you think it is. Also, an EP isn't an album. It's definitely one of the Top 5 EP's of the 80's though (the only decade when EP's mattered).

Because it's a perfect movie and one of my favourites.
Haven't got to listen to much over the holidays, family, uni work etc.
I'm still listening to fairly mucore stuff and my ratings are still quite generous, I find it quite hard to really dislike something, which might be a blessing or a curse.
I don't have a lot to rec you guys, it's all very obscure to me but if you guys haven't listened to heather woods broderick and like contemp. classical/ambient stuff then check her out, espeically from the ground

I honestly can't remember if Ive heard Boss Horn, but I think I might have, he's got a big band on it right? And I normally don't really like Stanley b/c he's boring and basic, but that Up At Minton's was good, I was like 16 years old last time I heard it, but I remember it was tight. Try some Tina Brooks as a leader if you haven't.
