why is this the best DAW ever made?
That's not ProTools.
That's not AudioMulch.
That's not Adobe Audition 1.5.

Real talk, any DAWs that are similar to Audition? I like to arrange my drums loops very "mathmatically", if that makes any sense
We don't have midi support in the new versions, so it's shit for my purposes now.
Lady Gaga uses Steinberg Cubase.

anyway to answer your question OP, Ableton is the best DAW because it seamlessly and easily integrates VSTs like FLS, has amazing stock synths and plugins like Reason, and can do mixing/mastering and recording on a level that is close (but to be fair does not match) that of Logic and Pro Tools, respectively.
All that AND the best, most sandboxy, most intuitive damn workflow that has ever been seen in the history of EDM
Why are there so many European, especially German, companies in the DAW space?
Steinberg - Hamburg, Germany
Ableton - Berlin, Germany
Apple Logic Pro - originally by C-Lab/Emagic in Rellingen, Germany
Propellerhead (Reason) - Stokholm, Sweden
Image-Line (FL Studio) - Brussels, Belgium
In addition, Celemony, the maker of Melodyne, is based out of Munich.

"Electronic/Dance" has a way larger market share in Europe. In the US it's like 3%.
seriously this was the first daw i ever used, in 3rd grade or something, good times
I'm partial to Sonar, but I know the correct answer is Cubase.
