Basically, MTV has gone full-on vaporwave visually - 2nd life style animations, repetitive glitches, neon-colored landscapes, etc.
Thoughts? Obviously shitty IMO, but seems kinda trite to call this the end of Vaporwave.... like the subversive nature of the genre can't survive just b/c a corporation stole some of the visual aspects. This always happens... literally ALWAYS happens to underground music/art that gets a hint of popularity.

The Vaporwave aesthetic is the logical conclusion of the 80s/90s nostalgia train that we seem to be perpetually stuck in, it's only natural that it gets taken into the fold and adapted to suit the needs of corporate interests desperate to stay relevant
I don't think 'actual' (for lack of a better term) vaporware music will ever be anything more than a weird novelty explored by a small niche of people on the internet though

i dont mean to sound like a self righteous asshole but i think that its a part of the aesthetic when its not done in the 2814 "post on mu about how good your own album is" or something along those lines, which is why i even released that 19 minute drone
i think that the aesthetic of viral marketing is way more embedded into vaporwave than the act of viral marketing itself is (see bb's eco zones music video). i like to think that in actual distribution and marketing, vaporwave is a lot more like punk was where it was just a bunch of people distributing albums of theirs except now it's been globalized over a multi billion user virtual network that sometimes results in a cassette
i think that's way more "vaporwave" than viral marketing
