>Not recognizing the greatest music composer of the 20th century
>listening to pedophiles
Reminder he married a girl the same age as Jordyn Jones.

maybe best pop compposer, but certainly not the best composer period. That goes to schoenberg or Mingus, or something not pop music
Brian displayed not only great knowledge of tonality, but when and where to place it and with what kind of instrumentation.
Listen to "Song For Children", or "Wind Chimes"
What Brian Wilson is also a master of is timing and building up songs to a peak (lisen to Wind Chimes)
Isn't The Beach Boys for old people and GIRLS?
>>61315202
Ok I know you are having your fun but anyone wants to care about music can't ignore a group as monumental as them Beach Boys. Their influence is vast not only musically but culturally!
>>61315061
>separating the artist from the art
>>61315202
more influential than the beatles bruh bruh, (considering everything the beatles did was copy the beach boys up until pet sounds)
>>61315245
Prove it
>>61315245
there is no way anyone actually thinks this
>>61315262
There is an entire internet cult circulating around the myth of Brian Wilson's "genius". When in all reality, his "genius" came from a marketer for the Beach Boys who was desperate to cheaply one up the Beatles.
Its pathetic
>>61315255
>>61315255
The idea of a rock group but with white vocal harmonies.
crafting a new melodic style of mersey beat
the beatles, specifically paul built his song styles around those of brain
rubber soul inspired (not influenced musically) pet sounds, and pet sounds influenced the beatles (sgt pepper)
not to mention hip hop has taken a great amount of influence from brain's bass centered production style
both the Beach Boys and the Beatles were amazing bands
now shut the fuck up yall
>>61315327
>The idea of a rock group but with white vocal harmonies.
Brian wilson invented the idea of a rock band using harmonies?
>>61315202
i'm for girls
>>61315327
>the beatles, specifically paul built his song styles around those of brain
In terms of what? Harmonic composition? Tonality?

>>61315376

>>61315359
elegant retort
>>61315396
So did lots of bands
Anyone else feel like Beatles just incorporated other styles, genres, and instruments while the Beach Boys actually made them?
Hard to explain, but when I listen to Beatles - "I Love You To" I feel like they just put a sitar in there, and it was BEATLES making Indian styled music.
While The Beach Boys on a song like "Cabin Essence" ACTUALLY made old American folk, rather than just simply having a banjo and similar sounds.
>>61315442
but they did first
>>61315467
You might be biased
>>61315515
Being first is overrated
>>61315519
>you might be biased
I probably am! I have watched a lot of documentaries and read a lot about the Beach Boys, so I have a lot of context.
If I learned more about Beatles, perhaps I would hear the music differently

On Pet Sounds The Beach Boys took Phil Spector's wall of sound, stripped it back, and slowed it down. Brian is basically the vaporwave equivalent of 60's pop.

I can't get into Pet Sounds or any Beach Boys record, no matter how hard I try.
Sorry guys.
>>61315684
