otherwise, I listened to pic related recently after seeing someone talking about his new album in another thread, and geez is it good. the Bill Lee's John Coltrane version they deliver is amazing, as well as the rest of the album

Nice coincidence, I've been listening to Charles Mingus for the last couple of hours. Usually I mostly listen to Metal but I decided to drop that for a while and now I've been listening to Jazz for the last couple of days and all I can think is "Damn, I should listen to Jazz much more often". Art Blakey, Bud Powell and Charles Mingus are all god-tier musicians.
Also, I noticed a funny thing today while listening to Mingus Ah Um. The music on the first level of Doom is (most likely accidentally) a rip off of Pedal Point Blues:

Been listening to Karl Berger, Moondog, and pic related this afternoon, will likely continue with Marion Brown's Reeds and Vibes or James Blood Ulmer or Nels Cline, we'll see.
For Christmas, my girlfriend got me an '84 Japanese press of Don Cherry's Symphony for Improvisers, and original issues of Bill Laswell's Hear No Evil and Morphine's Cure for Pain (As well as Papa M's Live from a Shark Cage). Got an Amazon gift card and just ordered The Codona Trilogy, Karl Berger's Transit, and Sacred Vilion and Guitar Music of the Modern Aztecs on CD. I learned about the latter from the liner notes of Polly Bradfield's Solo Violin Improvisations, which I treated myself to before Christmas.
Concerning Mingus, one of the local record stores has an original pressing (Columbia black label?) of The Clown (one of my top 3 Mingus records) for $150; torn about whether I should get it every payday.

Anyways, anyone can recommend some really unhinged and delirious jazz? I love it when the brass soloists go nuts with growls, flutters, and what not. I'm usually very fond of bebop/hard/post-pob/whatever you want to call it if it's good for reference.

Not very fond of electroacoustic orchestras, and the music came across as boring to say the least; however, I did enjoy the solo.
