No one man should have so many dope flows.
>>61289378
literal 10/10 album
>>61289378
dopest flow stanzas.
>>61289378
Where should I go from this album?
>>61289561
backwards through Doom's catalog into 90s NY underground rap, especially the stuff on Fondle 'Em Records.
and/or backwards through Madlib's Lootpack stuff into 90s California jazz-rap.
both rich veins of fantastic rap music.
The clock's ticking I just count the zeroes
>>61289589
Thanks.
>>61289488
completely agree
only (rap) album i think even remotely measures up is Danny Brown - XXX, but they are both good in almost complete opposite ways
i dont know why music elitists jerk off to this album. i tried to listne to it back when i posted in the ign music lobby where there was a bunch of music snobs recommending it there too. (what was the other elite ign music board? indie rock? yeah) anyway, it sucks. it's a bad rap album, and nobody should like it. it's a bunch of garbage.
>>61289650
it's definitely wildly overrated by people who haven't heard enough rap albums, but what makes you hate it?
>song about trying to give a mint to a bitch with bad breath
>it's a lyrical masterpiece
I'm happy we can talk about DOOM again without people calling it meme rap.
>>61289688
all right i dont actually hate it, im counterbalancing the hyperbolic love with hyperbolic hate, but i think its just boring as fuck.
>>61289378
literally outdated:the album
My first DOOM experience, I recommend it.
And Vaudevillian, which is in my opinion, much better than Madvilliany.
>>61289692
honestly the term meme-rap is so overused by retards who call anything besides burial and godspeed a meme
only thing i would consider meme-rap is shit like Lil B, that people listen to ironically
why is DOOM considered an overaverage rapper when most of what he raps about is how good of a rapper he is? Or his dangerous persona. That concept album about him literally killing other MCs seems so stupid.
I love his projects though.
>>61289763
what does "outdated" even mean as a criticism of art?
it's not a refrigerator.
>>61289783
Lil B might be the single most sincere rapper of the 21st century to date.
>>61289776
RAP SNITCHES TELLIN ALL THEY BUSINESS
>>61289729
I don't know man. I thought doom was a boring fuck at first, but I got an entirely different appreciation of his music after looking up his lyrics. If you ask me, he's an amazing writer. It took me a while before I warmed up to his beats though.
>>61289787
it's his flows and wordplay. his rhyme schemes are crazy, often making several intra-line rhymes and alliterative clusters super quickly on a weird time signature
>>61289776
Just picked this up today and it's great.
>>61289799
SIT IN THE COURT AND BE THEIR OWN STAR WITNESS, DO YOU SEE THE PERPETRATOR?
>>61289776
>start listening to this
>it becomes a plunderphonics album
no one told me
>>61289918
>I lost an arm!
>...
>Good.
>>61289793
>hop up out my car
>then i fuck yo bitch
>swag
all his fans are white teenagers/20somethings that ironically listen to it, while i'm sure as a person Lil B is very sincere and kind, his music (at least what people listen to of his music) is very much ironic/jokey as well as a literal meme
>>61289948
>>61289534
hopeless romancer
>>61290005
Music can be "a joke" without being ironic. Funny music can be enjoyed sincerely. The audience shouldn't be taken into account when judging a work of art.
>>61290050
I honestly enjoyed listening to that Niel Ciciera joke album Moth Sounds.
For song being meme mashups of goofy pop-culture hits and Smash Mouth, they're actually all pretty catchy.
most overrated garbage of all time
literaly the normie the album of "underground" rap
>>61290326
this is some low quality bait right here
>>61290354
its not bait
ask any backpacker what their favorite album is and its going to be this or jcole
>>61290050
except when the joke is that it's over the top, stupid or just bad then it falls into the category of ironic humor
>>61290326
>"It's popular therefore it's bad"
>>61290653
or badass
>>61290721
not bad, overrated
>>61289561
Vaudeville Villain is the best DOOM album by far, sad it gets overlooked so frequently for no reason
>>61289378
I adore this album. But MF Doom literally has only one flow.
>>61289378
Finally /mu/ talking about quality rap and not shit tier artists like Kanye. If only Aesop Rock could get some cred here, Skelthon was sick as fuck and no one really payed attention to it.
>>61290984
Listen to this man.
Album's fire, for real.
