There never really were flavor of the months like now MPP being leaked was the first shitstorm.

you aren't missing anything, none of it is good

>>61246340
>>61246367
they aren't flavor of the month if they're still discussed now
>>61246392
>There never really were flavor of the months
>reading comprehension
>>61246392
mpp was all over the board when it first dropped though, just because people still discuss it doesn't mean it wasn't that flavor of that month.
>>61246329
Eh
Their stuff can be good in small bursts, and they do explore a lot of different styles across their career but there are loads of bands who do those styles better so I can't really say you're missing out on much.
future traveler here, the samples do NOT do it justice

Crack The Skye
Sheikh to the Future when I joined in the late 21st century
ITAOTS
Nothing. I've been here from the start. It was interesting when it was a fresh start. Nothing to conform to. We were free to discuss whatever we wanted. It was a slow and gradual descent in to conformity.
>>61246298
same OP
>>61246298
was born in the middle of it's 15 week stay at top of the charts
Tried to listen to it so many times because I thought I was close to liking it because I like so much stuff similar to it. Got really really REALLY sick of seeing it eventually and finally deleted it from my library with an audible triumphant snarl. Fuck this album.
>>61247161
fuck this album [2]
spammed like hell it was thrown in with Grimes and TPAB for a while till /mu/ turned on it. I thought it was better than TPAB desu
>>61247161
One of the most bizarre things I've seen on 4chan is the complete 180 towards this album. I was always sorta eh towards it but it went from being treated as this masterpiece to the subject of intense disdain, I don't really get it.
Ys
Specifically it was a few weeks before this released, and everyone was passing around a 'leak' that was just P-sides with the album art set to a dude sticking his dick in a big pile of ants.
>>61246422
>there are loads of bands who do those styles better
examples?
>>61247398
Totally agree, and this was definitely flavor-of-the-month when I started posting here. I liked the album enough, but everyone was putting it in the top /mu/core back in like early 2010. Then, out of the blue, it just wasn't talked about anymore, and now everyone hates it. Baffling.
>>61246329
Good job dude! So patrician XP
>>61247351
well yea its better than tpab but it wasnt aoty earl keeps that place
>>61247351
I always assumed this album was just viraled.
I forget what was fotm when I joined, but I vaguely remember everyone loving Andrew Jackson Jihad.
>>61247538
seconding this, theyre one of my favorite bands so anything similar to that would be appreciated
>>61247641
I got an email from Mathis a few months ago asking his fans to stop meming with it. It seemed like he was pretty upset about it. Something to do with how it "makes a mockery of the art" those werent his exact words but that was the idea.
Almost 4 years...
>>61246298
That album is still top tier pop/rock
>>61246298
That one crystal castles album.
ITAOTSIDIOTS
Just another worthless emo album about muh gf with a textless cover
>>61246329
same for me, 09 baby
I liked it then, haven't listened in years though
Merriweather Post Pavillion was spammed. It remains my least favorite AnCo album.
late 2009 here
>>61246298
that was more like flavour of the year. It get mentioned for a few months
>as if I can remember 8 years ago so easily
this is the closest I can remember.
i bet no one remembers this
>>61248470
not as much as flavor of the month and more of full on /mu/core, but emo in general has just pretty much soured here
>>61248482
I remember the singer
I remember seeing Indian summer all over the damn place
>>61248470
>I was 11 eight years ago
>>61247398
It's a great example of all the pretense and posturing on /mu/. It's all about image and the local culture, not music or quality.
>>61247351
one of the most pathetic attempts at viral marketing ive ever seen
>>61247398
I'm the dude who posted that and for me it's mostly just because it was hailed as being the next "indie special effects acoustic sometimes" thing. Like, people literally calling it the next ITAOTS. It just baffles me how people can look at the album and actively compare it to something like ITAOTS, which, despite being maybe over-talked about, is a fucking legendarily creative piece and super deserving of being remembered. Hospice is just bland. Maybe it's got all the elements of a good album, but it isn't fucking memorable
>>61248769
So you admit that its noteworthy then?
I remember OFWGKTA/Tyler the Creator getting a lot of hype when I first came here, pretty funny looking back
the first thread i ever seen on here involved Hospice, but i think it was a few months after it came out
>>61246298
AS I WALK THROUGH THE STREETS OF MY NEW CITY
>>61247161
Lmao same
I remember when I used to make threads like ITT Albums That Bore You To Death. How was this once mucore
I came around 2014, I remember there was barely any music discussion and just memes (later half of 2014)
pic related, I don't think anyone remembers it now
>>61247444
>>61247515
these too
still good
>>61246340
This one for me.
But pic related was hyped to hell and back, and was forgotten shortly after.
>>61247161
I legitimately love this album. I've listened to it a few times this week already because holiday depression.
I don't remember but I first started frequenting around February or March of this year
>>61246298
this and that shitty 69 love songs album
>>61247873
barely got discussed because p4k didn't review it
>>61247161
the worst antlers album, imo
>>61246317
SWALLOWED WAY TO MUCH
T H I S T B F
>>61246433
This.
When I first came here, I thought this was some kind of Kanye West worshiping internet cult
>>61249952
Aw man. Holiday depression is rough. I know it's meaningless but I hope you feel better soon when the snow melts
